traderfromhell
under the heading of "over- retailing" My wife just returned from the Mall and reported 3 shops have closed down . 1 x deli 1 x sportsco 1 x ice cream parlour We have 1 x Foot locker,1 x Athetes Foot and 1 x Sportsco (or we did) all selling sports shoes...we also have Rebel sports (huge superstore selling all kinds of sporting goods and shoes etc undercutting the others by 30 to 40 % all in the same complex...I think the point is close now. Same here in New Jersey BB. I really don't know how any of them can make any money at all. Rents are sky high. Even more interesting is the constant building of strip malls up and down the local highways. There must be a freaking Dunkin Donuts every three miles from Manalapan to Sayreville on the stretch of route 9 I travel every day to go to work. Pity the poor schmuck who pays for the franchise only to find a new one morphing out of thin air every six months.
