Rupert Murdoch has announced that Newscorp is moving offshore: News Corp announced it would move its home country of incorporation to the United States by the end of 2004 in the hope of attracting a massive funding influx from leading investment houses. Obviously a bit of a leak on that news as NCP has been steaming up for a few days. The local investment scene must not be giving Rupert the $$ and esteem he desires... Newscorp +1.4% today. The rest of the market milling around with a good deal of red onscreen. Banks and insurers pulling back from the recent run. Golds doing the bounce with Lihir in the lead, +2.6%. Oils up as well. Guest Posted April 7, 2004 Report Share Posted April 7, 2004 Oopsies, All Ords made a distribution top intraday and declined steadily thereafter closing +6.9 (+0.2%), well off the high of +0.7%. Newscorp hung on to gains closing around +1.6% on huge volume, 38 million shares traded. Many other stocks traded lightly, not even cracking 1 mill. Nothing bullish about today's action so tomorrow could be interesting, especially being the day before a 4-day holiday. Golds did ok and oils closed up around 1%. Nikkers had another dose of viagra served up in the lunch break (attempted replay of yesterday), but what a pity, couldn't quite hold things up and the index did a nasty dive into close, -0.5%. Geopolitical tensions now exerting their influence,so it'll likely be a yo-yo ride to the bottom.But fo' the mo' just chop,chop,faff,faff,bore,bore.
