Madame Wrecked Him
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The number of Americans lining up to file an initial claim for jobless aid fell last week to its lowest level since early 2001, the government said on Wednesday in a better-than-expected report showing layoffs easing. I may be splitting hairs here, but the week of Nov 6 had an even lower initial claims number at 348k, which was subsequently revised up to 353k. longOnUranus
MEDICARE: I'm a conservative and lately, I've begun to wonder who the idiots really are. A trillion dollars over the next 10 years to buy truckfulls of Aricept and Viagra will buy us nothing but horny, pruned and shriveled zombies jerking off in wheelchairs . Maybe my kids will be able to afford the rent on a one-bedroom apartment in Lubbock, after taxes. But at least I'll be happy. MARKET: Lottsa talking points data today for the varsity cheerleading team on The Recovery Channel. 3AM futures ramp came right on schedule (just broke through yesterday's intraday high). Low friction/high lube trading week and EOM - another ramp orgy in hedonic paradise for the bulls. Or is it? I have the same "twilight zone" feeling I had back in March 2K. Preparing to change my asset allocation to 35 % shorts/puts, 50 % cash, 15% Xanax. I pulled the Xanax increase out of the cash allocation. I'm hoping my children enjoy this new brand of dog food I bought.

growler
Pension bill not going to hurt...that type of analysis has been deemed irrelevant by the fed. It all comes down to 4 words: Better Than Expected. Fraud, intentional deceit, corruption are systemic. Pension deficits will only provide more resolve for the government to introduce designer steroids to juice the stock market. Remember the stock market IS THE ECONOMY. Yaryman
I may be splitting hairs here, but the week of Nov 6 had an even lower initial claims number at 348k, which was subsequently revised up to 353k. What happened was, the previous week's jobless claims number was accidently sent to the Upward Revision Branch of the US matrix/government. The GDP upward revision really taxed the staff, and by mistake they revised upwards the unemployment claims for the previous week, not realizing that was a bad thing. It's hard for the matrix to keep track of all the lies.
