mjkst27
Per Hyper: "If you stack Gold and silver coins...it is to survive the debt deflationary implosion...not to get rich quick..." This finally makes sense to me and is the answer to my most basic question -- By owning gold/silver, do we actually realize asset appreciation, or just maintain purchasing power. you'll "maintain purchasing power", but everyone around you will get wiped out, thus elevating your relative position. Hyper is right, none of us wants to live in that world. but it's coming anyway.

mjkst27
It seems to me there are far too many people on the planet to keep 'em all occupied doing clever things such as designing or manufacturing or mining physical goods, or providing entertainment, or growing food, or whatever. It's probably been this way as long as there's been a division-of-labor economy. Thus the tendency for a banker class to develop that "changes paper" all day as they used to say in the Bible. This gives the appearance of useful employment but as Hyper describes leads down a slippery slope of mathematical decay as interest charged inevitably exceeds the productivity of the real economy. The banker class thus bleeds everyone else, as human nature would dictate. Until humanity solves this problem, we'll continually find ourselves back in the jam we're in now. mjkst27
ah yes, Bala Cynwyd (pronounced Kin-wid), one of my favorite Pennsylvania place-names. Right up there with Mars, Moon, King of Prussia, Jersey Shore and Intercourse. You can look em all up.

Hypertiger
In a crisis situation you would get a dictatorship...with a rubber stamp Congress and Senate...Like just after 9-11...The Homeland security department is actually the Government in waiting...In an Implosion scenario I don't see why the powers would need a Congress or Senate... Yeah! The House on 6/2 rejected the idea of APPOINTED REPRESENTATIVES to replace those who MAY be killed in a mass attack. Maybe someone has some sense after all. traderfromhell
Did any stoolie know (before paying attention to Ike) that there are only 30 million cars in use in China? I heard yesterday there were 11 cars per thousand in China while there are something like 775 per thousand in the USA. Wonder why those sobs aren't winning the Tour D' France.
