sniff Posted February 15, 2003 Report Share Posted February 15, 2003 I don't see much problem with the board... Just turn your brain filter on. I only spend about 10% of time actually in intraday... Seems there is a lot of energy wasted that could go into TA... but I swing more to TA... everyone swings differently, which is fine... sniff has a very twisted sense of humor... what he may think is funny, can fall completely flat for someone else... The intraday thread moves pretty fast and unless one is a very skilled poster and writer. The thoughts may not come across, exactly as intended... and that goes double for posters where English is not their # 1 lingo. I do cringe a bit on some responses, but I am no cy-call-ojust... so I just go on about my business. as far as not paying attention to someone... I don't care.... myself, I try to pay attention, except when I'm nodding off. as far as trading the cycles, you bet. but I do have a seperate trading account that is very active. Why? I suppose, one could call it an educational, training acct. A most fitting phrase. As Doc has pointed out, he doesn't say: buy, sell, here I'll hold your hand as we go over the waterfall. Well, occasionally, like when he's out on the window ledge yelling "SELL THE NEWS!" I honestly think it is the responsibility of each stoolie to do the footwork necessary to grasp what his charts are saying at a any given time frame, and to just SEE what is happening. It will come, and a spark of understanding becomes a 40 watt bulb, then a 60 watt bulb, and the light grows ever brighter. Chart till your fingers bleed and the light begins to shine. Then chart some more, and more, and more. Perhaps a trade that goes opposite of what we thought is the fuel needed to look closer, and divine why the trade went the other way. Look for the answer and the charts will show it to you. I will constantly be learning, striving to acheive a clearer picture. Wake now discover that YOU are the eyes on the charts. If you don't like some of the characters, that tells me more about you than about them. Some of us need a little more of a sense of humor. Some of us need to understand that we are all playing characters on this board. Some of us just don't get it. Doc, The inevitable growing pains of success. It's a problem a lot of websites wish they had. The only gripe I had was not personalities but the lack of rule enforcement (e.g. keeping politics out of IDS). Basically that's it for me. I've mentioned this site to a number of people at work and I've had a rather weird response from one person. It's like I've spooked them or something. I'm thinking about asking Doc to change my handle because of that. Yobob posted a thread today and to this day, I remember the annonymous handle of a Yahoo poster who begged me to sell it all on Y2K. Fortunately for me I did not have any real sum of funds invested but his warnings kept me from chasing the falling knife. We all need balance in life and with all the doom and gloom in the world I think we should welcome any bullish comments and we should not jump on those people. Being bullish is not evil. Lol, that statement sounds funny comming from a bear who's thoughts might be construed by bulls as evil. Face it, if you're a bear in public your words are often despised and you're looked at like you're a whacko. Before this site I belonged to Trendfund and TraderMike. Waxie tought me a certain morality. I love the fact that he encourages people to take their profits and donate a percentage to the poor. Doc, if there is any room for improvement, emulate Waxie on this. I understand you are for profit, but certainly we can find some method of offering constructive 'things-to-do' for the strangers that wander here. Do I have anything to offer as constructive? (to wandering readers finding this thread -> Dump the greed mentality and concentrate on improving quality of life - Avoid gambling like the plague. I've been posting links to this board among all my aquantainces. NOT ONE HAS SIGNED UP! Does that reflect upon what they think of my opinions? I can take it. dsm Posted February 16, 2003 Report Share Posted February 16, 2003 I am new to this, but I'm beginning to see that many chart patterns are a consequence of cycles, and the cycles will usually show you which way small scale TA patterns will develop. Many of the cruder charts are disambiguated by the cycle charts. I think it is useful to appreciate this even if you don't use cycles. If you don't subscribe to the anals, and buy the book, then you are missing out! But there is more to it than just that. Many have found a home here that otherwise would not have their views read and appreciated. The live and let live aspect of this site is one of its finest features. As new stoolies pick up the positive culture of the site, it adds to the shared energy of the site. There are so many independent minds with useful things to say, that it has become a trove of information. This is a place where freedom expression is real. What I see being created here may become very much more powerful and very much more significant than many can possibly be expecting right now. I remember when the web only had 3 sites, and you could read them all in a day! As I've said before: it's a force for good! Tanks Doc! Tanks Stoolies! Stool On!
