Hiding Bear Posted May 12, 2004 Author Report Share Posted May 12, 2004 I'm not kidding about crash alert the window closed 15 minutes ago and this thing is falling with no natural pressure on it and the Astro today just gets nastier as the day progresses. Warning flags are back up again, but kind of hard putting them up when the storm is already engulfing! Good debate on deflation/inflation. Recent events have not chnaged my expectation that general inflation is not only likely but apt to accelerate over the next two years. Assets that may be discounted by interest rates - i.e. housing, stocks, and bonds - could be 'deflated' by the higher rate of return needed in inflationary conditions. Already, pricing gimmickry is showing up in standard household consumables...dish detergent, paper porducts, etc plus food stuffs and fresh veggies .
