Personal attacks are not the answer. Quitting is not the answer. Deleting all of your posts (and the posts of others as well) on the board is not the answer. Each, in its way, is an act of hostility. Each hasits intended victims (usually me). Each has unintended victims. I'd like it to stop, but I know it won't. Everytime someone attacks another member, or quits, or destroys content, we are all diminished.

The solution is to forgive and forget. I have even allowed people who, in acts of petulance, have destroyed hundreds of pages of content on this board to come back and repost. Those who I do not want back, it is because I came to the sad conclusion that they are unable to control their abusive behavior.

But no more delete keys for anyone. Live and learn.

Sleddy...in the Internet World, as in the real world, assholes exist. Nobody has any right whatsoever to attack the person behind the avatar on the Internet. It happens every day on message boards around the web....but it need not happen here. Your efforts here are too valuable to lose. The information and insight you provide are significant and important.

As for you...the person behind the avatar, I have the deepest respect for you and your service to this country. Please stick around and let Doc weed out those who would make personal attacks on other Stoolies, as they have no place here.

Wednesday, Sept. 8

At 6:30 p.m.: The White House releases a transcript of a CBS interview with communications director Dan Bartlett, part of which appeared on the CBS Evening News Bartlett does not challenge the documents' authenticity but says the controversy is nothing more than "partisan politics."

6:45 p.m.: Bartlett tells USA TODAY White House reporter Judy Keen, "President Bush met his military obligations and rightfully received an honorable discharge (from the Guard). While the official records show the facts, no one can read the mind of a dead man (Killian) who wrote memos to himself 32 years ago."

9:30 p.m.: The White House e-mails copies of the four memos in the 60 Minutes report to reporters and editors across the country. The date "09/07/2004" and the words "CBS News" are at the top of each page, indicating they are copies that CBS faxed to the White House the previous day.

THE WHITE HOUSE DID WHAT??? WHY???

WITHOUT DEFENDING RATHER...IT IS OBVIOUS AT THIS POINT THAT THE WHITE HOUSE KNOWS FOR A FACT THAT THESE DOCUMENTS ARE A FRAUD, OR YOU COULD COME UP WITH NO LOGICAL EXPLANATION FOR THE WHITE HOUSE TO MAKE THEM AVAILABLE TO THE MEDIA

Through the night: Internet "bloggers" dissect the 60 Minutes report. Many say the memos look like they were done using a modern computer that didn't exist in 1972 or 1973.

7:51 a.m.: Powerlineblog.com, the Internet site that has received much of the credit for calling attention to signs that the documents might be forgeries, posts a long analysis of them.

"If Rove is behind the leaking of the alleged "forged" documents shown on "60 Minutes", it could well be phase two of a strategy to kill all criticism of President Bush for his record during the Vietnam War era. If the documents turn out to be fakes, the story will no longer be about Bush's military record but about who forged the documents. In fact that is essentially what is happening already. It won't be long before fingers start pointing toward the Kerry camp.

If you think this sounds like a nutty conspiracy theory, you probably haven't been following Karl Rove's career; a career replete with dirty tricks and sophisticated, preemptive political strikes.

Remember the allegations that Bush was arrested in 1972 on drug possession charges, specifically cocaine? Today it is basically a non-story. But it is worth looking back at why.

If Rove was Hatfield's source, he certainly wasn't trying to expose Bush's drug use. Instead he was trying to discredit and ultimately kill the story. And it worked. Few reporters since have dared to touch the story.

Consider also the history of Rove's dirty tricks, chronicled by James Moore and Wayne Slater in their book "Bush's Brain: How Karl Rove Made George W. Bush Presidential."

Four years ago during the Bush-Gore race, the Gore camp mysteriously obtained sensitive campaign materials from the Bush campaign including a video of the Texas governor prepping for a debate and detailed campaign strategy notes. Rove soon accused the Gore campaign of secretly taping Bush. Later a former employee of a Bush campaign adviser admitted supplying the information to Gore."

Blogger alleging CBS memos as frauds is GOP lawyer

Saturday, September 18, 2004

By Peter Wallsten, Los Angeles Times

WASHINGTON -- It was the first public allegation that CBS News used forged memos in its report questioning President Bush's National Guard service -- a highly technical explanation posted within hours of airtime, citing proportional spacing and font styles.

But it did not come from an expert in typography or typewriter history, as some first thought. Instead, the Los Angeles Times has found that it was the work of Harry W. MacDougald, an Atlanta lawyer with strong ties to conservative Republican causes. He helped draft the petition urging the Arkansas Supreme Court to disbar then-President Bill Clinton following the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

The identity of "Buckhead," a blogger known previously only by his screen name on the Web site freerepublic.com and lifted to folk-hero status in the conservative blogosphere since last week's posting, is likely to fuel speculation among Democrats that the efforts to discredit the CBS memos were engineered by Republicans eager to undermine reports that Bush received preferential treatment in the National Guard more than 30 years ago.

The Sept. 8 late-night posting -- written fewer than four hours after the CBS report was aired -- resulted in a flurry of sympathetic testimonials from fellow bloggers, spreading within hours to other sites.

While bloggers and some conservative activists hailed Buckhead as a hero in their longtime efforts to paint the mainstream media as politically biased, some Democrats and even some conservative bloggers have marveled at Buckhead's detailed knowledge of the memos and wondered whether that suggested a White House conspiracy.

Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe speculated openly to reporters that the whole thing could have been orchestrated by White House political adviser Karl Rove. The Bush campaign called the allegation "nonsense."

The White House had access to the memos prior to the Sept. 8 broadcast. CBS delivered copies to White House communications director Dan Bartlett on the morning of its broadcast, so he could discuss them in an interview with anchor Dan Rather.

One of the reasons why B-4 the Bell came about is that a lot of us were subject to the attacks Sleddy has just gone thru-Rich take a long walk off a short pier you don't belong here or are welcome!

What a load of crap! Hipocracy!!!

Rich had balls for critisizing your down every day shtick that hasn't changed one little bit. His only drawback was timing.....right at 1163 $SPX. Of course the 100 point rally leading up to 1163 is where you were wrong every day leading up to 1163 and never made a dime! Sound familiar? Just like 1060-1130 now. Wrong ALL THE WAY UP and again you haven't made a dime since 1062.

...net result? Stoolville loses one of the best homegrown chartists we ever had in our very own Richmtn. One of our original stoolies who was not afriad of a little hard work to learn. I miss his charts a lot. He made the effort to learn Hurst cycles and depict them in all their glorious technicolor when most everyone else in this thread would rather dig up lunatic conspiracy theories crap instead of making an effort to hone their TA skills. Disgusting!

We are all the poorer for not having Richmtn here anymore. I don't consider Rich's critique of your dogma as the reason for our loss, but instead I blame your ineptitude and complete denial of cycle up-phases as the reason we lost Richmtn.

So counterattack away all you want because I don't give a crap anymore....

GM - totally agree.

one can still be a bear and make $ on the long side.

only certain individuals are allowed to make a bullish case w/o getting their balls chopped off.

The blogger who revealed the type face inconsistencies (a GOP attorney) and the co-author of the book from the Texas Swiftboat Vets are members of the same online community? Wow, that's a coincidence! Who'd have thought that? (Oh, that's right, I suggested the possibility of a connection yesterday).

The blogger who seemingly analyzed the type face in intricate detail had only seen the documents on his grainy television screen during the 60 Minutes report at the time he made his in-depth analysis. He was the first person to make a detailed typographical analysis of the memos...and he did so BEFORE copies had been made available. Wow...this guy is good, eh?

If you don't care, or don't want to know, don't read about it.

This was followed in a few hours by a detailed typographic analysis from another blogger named "Buckhead" - even though the typography had only been shown on television, not exactly a medium conducive to examining typographic nuance.

The blog site that "broke" the story of the alleged forgery of the documents Dan Rather had shown the world was, to quote Robert Sam Anson, "the repository for anti-Jew, anti-Catholic, anti-homosexual, anti-John Kerry rants by Jerome R. Corsi, Ph.D."

For some, the name may sound familiar. As Anson continues: "And whom, you ask, is Dr. Corsi? Co-author of the best-selling 'Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry,' that's who."
