Guest
Late Monday night I read something by Pete Hamill in Sunday's New York Daily News that left me totally speechless. Because what he wrote, in my opinion, focuses on the root cause and context of everything we've been outraged over ever since this community came into being. Unfortunately I cannot reproduce or even link to the complete article here. There are two ways for you to access it in toto: 1) Find a copy of the May 11 Sunday Daily News (or any other paper that carries his column) where it appears on Page 41 under the Ideas & Opinion logo. Your local library might well have it in their reference section. 2) Purchase the article online for $2.95 from The Daily News. Now normally I wouldn't even think of referencing an article that couldn't be linked to in its entirety. But I consider this one to be one of the most important moral documents of not just our time but any time. Reading it was a cathartic experience for me: THE DEATH OF SHAME From crusading Bill Bennett to 'Top Gun' George Bush, our leaders have lost a vital value BY PETE HAMILL Abstract: The sense of shame is a kind of cement in any decent society. The fear of shame reminds each of us that some things must not be done. You don't become a criminal because you would bring shame to your family. You don't employ muscle against the weak. You don't beat up women or prey on the old. You don't father children and then abandon them. You don't cheat or swindle because exposure would coat you with the tar of shame. You don't preach high ideals and live a lie. But it's clear that we are now awash in shamelessness. It's clear that the sense of shame needs to be revived and the shameless held to account. Consider some obvious examples . . .

Charmin
posted this over in Stool waves: just a couple of charts I looked at today Dan Ascani's NYSE wave count with comments from Bob Carver: Counting the Elliott Waves For those counting the waves, Dan Ascani posted his detailed NYSE count Tuesday on his GMSTechStreet.com website. According to that count, a wave iv pullback into a time cycle low due (ideally) on May 19th would be followed by a final wave v rally to end this wave C rally from mid-March, in turn ending the entire ABC bear market rally off the October 2002 low. Once the bear market rally is complete, a strong move down can be expected. and John123 and bearish wave counts http://trending123.com/patterns/bearish_sy...al_triangle.htm

Guest
Glad -- oddly and ironically, I believe that it was Bill Bennett himself who started talking about the "death of shame" several years ago if my memory recalls it correctly. Not a new topic, just very appropriate now as it was then. Different actors now displaying the same "it's all about me" self-interest. Debasement of societal standands along with debasement of the currency? Are we in Rome?

DrStool
Good morning and Good Stool to all! Following the service issues affecting some stoolies that cropped up as a result of the server switch, things appear to be back to "normal" this morning. Well, as normal as they can be. At any rate, I was able to update your Suctor Watch this morning. Stoolwethers were done yesterday, and there should be little change there. My game plan is to continue to update these on a rotating alternating day basis. The new server is running smoothly, and we are using only 1% of the server processes relative to how we were killing the old server, and bringing it to the brink of shutdown, even succeeding once or twice. The first real test of the new server will be on our first big down day when we are crushed with traffic. I expect that this monster machine will not even notice a blink. I am looking for other uses for all the excess capacity. Hosting is an easy to do option, and would be interested in hearing from any of you who would like a place to upload your stuff, either within a personal directory under the Capitalstool domain, or in your own. In case you missed it, I posted Monday's Stooltrading transcript over on LOB, and will do the same with yesterday's later today. I have not set up a way to view samples of Doc's intraday charts. Most of you are familiar with them. I will set up a sample page for newer folks soon. I hope you'll check out the transcripts, and try a trial subscription! This market is full of nasty surprises isn't it? While I said in last night's Anals that we should see an up phase this morning, I am incredulous to see the extent to which they've driven the fucutures up. I'll post updated cmaps in the Anals pre-market and Stooltrading around 9:00.

Guest bullseatshitndie
i'd like to see a gap open at/above 950 today w/ a red close. if this can be obtained, i'll reshort es. however, if we continue w/ the flat/down open, i'm going long for a day trade again. if we get the former, w/ an increased level of bulls today, that'll be even better
