Slothrop
It's that cost-cutting thing. What if Dow Jones got covered the way its newspapers cover other businesses? What would that be like?
DrStool
Yeah, where was Abelson last week. Rhonda Brammer penned the Up and Down Wall Street column. Only thing ever worth reading in Barrooms. The rest of it is unadulterated garbage, with the exception of a sprinkling of guest bears. That guy Gene Epstein is one of the biggest bullwhore Street pimps. He makes me want to puke.

Jorma
I was wondering where Ableson getting the ax was in that too. Not that they would not love to Ax him. This guy has been pissing on the party line for 2 decades. I don't doubt that a large percentage of Barron's readers would say bubye to the old gal if Ableson was shown the door. He is in the drivers seat. I used to buy it regularly years ago but as the 90's droned on they strayed less and less from the party line. And Epstien, sheesh, what a whore. Slothrop
Abelson is the most expensive salary on the staff. Hence, when the cost-cutters get started, he'll be among the first to go, since the bean-counters have no conception at all that this guy is the franchise. Something like Louis Rukeyeser and Wall Street Week, more or less.
