richmtn
So much for my short-term analysis. I was confident that we would go down at least this morning. Ouch. All my charts were telling me the same story. Unfortunately Mr. Market had different ideas. Is it just another Scam Week body slam? Will the bulls feel the wrath of the scam meister on Tuesday? Obviously I don't know. I'll be reading Doc's Anals later to get a better idea. Many have said that because everyone is expected jam/scam/Santa Rally it won't happen. We'll see. I think I'll try to extricate myself and wait for 2003. I hate thin markets. From the sidelines I could cheer higher prices as an opportunity to short next year. Equities went up with computer like precision today yet gold is telling a different story. Check out how we bounced off that 50 day moving average. Gary Kaultbaum of Tradingmarkets.com writes: "I have to leave now tp prepare for tomorrow's surgery. No, I am not having a lobotomy but some think I should have one. The markets simply bounced off of the 50 day average today. The 50 day is a place where institutions will stand up to provide support. Don't ask me why...I just know that they do. That market will be the major inflection point from here. If stocks, sectors and especially the market...start to break the 50...expect another leg down. As of this second, there is seasonal strength coming up so probably doesnt happen...but we will watch for it. Volume today is extremely light...indicating a lack of conviction but we care about price first. Do not forget what I said about a head and shoulders top. A rally into the 1420 for the NASDAQ would provide that potential."

richmtn
I you didn't catch this on IDS it's a hoot. Jackie Mason talks about analcysts and borkers Quantas Flight Line After every flight, pilots complete a gripe sheet which conveys to the mechanics problems encountered with the aircraft during the flight that need repair or correction. The form is a piece of paper that the pilot completes, and then the mechanics read and correct the problem. They then respond in writing on the lower half of the form what remedial action was taken and the pilot reviews the gripe sheets before the next flight. Never let it be said that ground crews and engineers lack a sense of humor. Here are some actual logged maintenance complaints and problems, as submitted by QUANTAS pilots, and the solution recorded by maintenance engineers. By the way, Quantas is the only major airline that has never had an accident. P = The problem logged by the pilot. S = The solution and action taken by the engineer. richmtn
FROM THE OFFICE OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS November 14, 2002 PO-3622 Remarks of Under Secretary of the Treasury Peter R. Fisher to the Columbus Council on World Affairs Columbus, Ohio Beyond Borrowing: Meeting the Government?s Financial Challenges in the 21st Century The principal financial challenge for our federal government in the 21st century will be to fulfill the many promises made in the 20th century. All the major industrial economies face this challenge. But I will stick to my knitting and, as Under Secretary for Domestic Finance, focus on the particular challenge that we face in this country: to make the government?s finances sustainable, to make sure that we align the promises we make with those we can keep.
