Hypertiger
Just before the "final crash" everyone will be converted...If that is their MO...Once the computer models keep coming up with doomsday as the answer to what to do next week they will go into fullblown lie mode to suck the last drop out... Because once the death sprial becomes unstoppable we are headed for Constitutional suspension and emergency powers... The first deflationary shockwave or maxout event happened in 2000... the price of a PIII 1GHz processor was $1945 Canadian now a 3GHz processor is $675 Canadian or 1/3 the cost... What would you need a 3GHz proscessor for? 3D gameing... a 1 GHz processor is under $100 Canadian... A brand new full system from DELL is what? $534 Canadian if you aren't into 3D first person shooters... Remember Christmas? the worst since 1970... Whitecollar unemployment...worse then the 80's And so on...We have seen nothing yet. The tech boom is over...It's not coming back. The new economy started in 1971 is DOA... We could even be in the last gasp... Inflate debt at all costs or die... Do or die...

You just brought a big ol' smile to my face.....thanks. Go to bed, get some sleep. The stock spent 3 months hammering out a bottom @ the doolar area. Maybe.. just maybe 1 more rinse, but I doubt it. Friday it kept it's forehead against that trendline.
morass
If HyperTiger is correct, we might soon have people trying to get arrested in order to get free room and board. Too late. This has been happening for years. Part of reason for high recidivism. On a happy note, the Gov. going belly up may put a crimp in the absurd practice of putting anyone (who can?t afford a good attorney) in prison for putting certain unsanctioned substances in their body. longOnUranus
Where is everyone? Moved from starboard to port. Overall, less people on the boat to tip it, though. Sailing too risky. That's how The Bear works: raise the risks by robbing the bulls (2000-2003), while intermittently headfaking to rob the bears, like now. Overall less cruise money. Then create ennui and discontent. Cut the casino payout to 30%. Get the dinner show entertainment from Star Search. Quit serving prunes. Forget the seat covers on the nudist cruises. Throw in a few SARS and infectious diarrhea cases. Have terrorists blow up the engine room. The list goes on. The Bear will end following a period of great ennui, which we are not at yet. The current ennui is not the river, storm or waterfall yet to come, but basically sailing in calm seas. At the bear bottom, we will be in puddle water, going nowhere, just gradually drying up. It saddens me to think about Stool and some other (less) stimulating sites, once the cruise line bankrupts. But there is always a bull market somewhere, to attract bulls and bears alike. I'm sure Stool can evolve as the market bottoms. We've got a few more years, I'm afraid. Even at lower levels, the US % moves will be there. Along with hard-core investors/speculators, grabbing for profits amongst each other as the public opts out. Not any easy trading environment by any stretch, at least at the NYSE. But who knows? The criminals are devious. They are inventing tools to treat commodities, foreign indexes, even the weather, as equities (I still get a yuck about weather futures). Yup, there will always be a market, somewhere.
