We closed the week at resistance. Next week I would be looking for 1110 or 1155. If something BAD happens (expected) then maybe 1060. We shall see.

With that, first song lyric entry for the weakend:

Bad to the Bone

words: George Thorogood

On the day I was born, the nurses all gathered 'round

And they gazed in wide wonder, at the joy they had found

The head nurse spoke up, and she said leave this one alone

She could tell right away, that I was bad to the bone

Bad to the bone

Bad to the bone

B-B-B-B-Bad to the bone

B-B-B-B-Bad

B-B-B-B-Bad

Bad to the bone

I broke a thousand hearts, before I met you

I'll break a thousand more baby, before I am through

I wanna be yours pretty baby, yours and yours alone

I'm here to tell ya honey, that I'm bad to the bone

Bad to the bone

B-B-B-Bad

B-B-B-Bad

B-B-B-Bad

Bad to the bone

I make a rich woman beg, I'll make a good woman steal

I'll make an old woman blush, and make a young woman squeal

I wanna be yours pretty baby, yours and yours alone

I'm here to tell ya honey, that I'm bad to the bone

B-B-B-B-Bad

B-B-B-B-Bad

B-B-B-B-Bad

Bad to the bone

Gold stocks fall, oil and gas climb

By Jenny Spitz, CBS.MarketWatch.com

Last Update: 6:30 PM ET April 16, 2004

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) - In a change from the usual trend, gold stocks were the lead decliners in an overall down market this week.

Usually, if the market is down, investors buy up gold, seeking a safe haven.

But although the sector rose late in the week, for the week overall, it was not able to overcome a decline suffered a steep decline suffered after the Labor Department released figures showing better-than-expected retail sales for March. See full story.

The CBOE Gold Index (GOX: news, chart, profile) fell 7.1 percent for the week. The Amex Gold Bugs Index (HUI: news, chart, profile) lost 7.3 percent. The Philadelphia Gold & Silver Index ($XAU: news, chart, profile) was down 6.3 percent.

Stain and TE I agree with all of it BUT I doubt we see 1150, I think it fails from here as it did today. 1135 was just to big a hill to climb-concrete resistance! The day after a triple witch is usually a hard downer as they blow out the arcane strategies used on op ex Friday. I expect 1100 by mid-week. I'll be away Monday, Tuesday keep a light in the window back for the bell Wednesday! ;)

You MUST read the lead story over at MSNBC about Shrub, Cheney and Iraq- I long ago made up my mind about Shrub BUT I must admit I am shocked by Bob Woodwards revelations from Tommy Franks and Gen. Zinni's- you are nuts to Powell calling Cheney"s office the "Gestapo" . My previous view was these guys were a remake of "Dumb and Dumber" my view now is "Dumb and very Dangerous " to all of us on this mortal coil. Have a read! and see if you can come up with any other conclusion-during his his press scrum today Bushies defense was "he couldn't remember'-this IS NOT going to go away! ;)

yeah - very scarey. Hyper if you are around - cnn gave figures tonight on Iraq - about 600 dead, 3000 wounded, 17000 Iraqi casualties. miles off of your numbers so wondering what your source was.

600 dead 3000 wounded in Fallujah 66% of those are confirmed innocent people...

My numbers are 1000 and 2000...

17,000? Total dead in a year? I guess CNN got their numbers the same place all numbers come from like Unemployment numbers...

I'm not there...they are stacking them like cord wood over there...innocent people are being raped and murdered round the clock...So nailing down exact figures is very hard to do...

If you don't think innocent people are being raped and murdered in massive quantities then you are just stupid...

I was a soldier and know exactally what these weapons can do...I've seen the effects close up and have also been very close to huge explosions...I also have seen soldiers rape and pillage...In peacetime, over there there is nothing stopping them...They are killing anything that moves and stealing anything of value...

It is house to house fighting....They are kicking doors in killing whatever is there then blowing holes in walls to get into the next house...

I factor in secondary effects like starvation, dehydration, and disease also...

There is no power in Fallujah the US bombed the plant...No way to pump water...have to drink whatever...Drink piss I guess...It does not rain much...

All the ammunition used by Bradley fighting vehicles equiped with vulcan cannons are Depleted Uranium all the A-10's fire Depleted Uranium rounds and Depleted Uranium is a component in the bombs that are dropped...so even if peace happened tomorrow the whole place is contaminated terminally...

I scanned the news tonight and there are no pictures from Fallujah...because if there was people would be shocked to see what it looks like when a city is turned into a slaughter house...Also the word insurgent must have been used 200 times...

And the saving of the freedom loving people of Iraq spin would collapse rapidly and completely....

What do you think is happening there? precision strikes? I see plenty of the use of the term sheep or sheeple...It is sheeple who think they are people calling people sheeple...

Scary? It is the end of everything you take for granted...that thing you are scared of is not going to be avoided...we are rocketing towards it and there is no escape...

Iraq is a sideshow...the main event is the impending hyperdeflationary implosion of the debt based monetary system that 99.99999% of the population is totally oblivious to...

REPOST - updated with chart added

=======================

I think the Gruff 18d cycle has turned early and I think the bulliots take it up till da Bradley 4/26 http://www.amanita.at/e/faq/e-bradley.htm

Next cycle low should be 11th May[ideal] - mid May[bradley May 17th ??] and the next 18/55d cycle low should be June 10th-mid June ..OF COURSE WE SHOULD HAVE TOPPED BY THEN..May 21stish sounds good so I expect a mini crash into June 10-17th[ note Bradley date of June 17th ].

Remember I am expecting a desparate uuuup by the bulls on slooooppy technicals and laaaarge divergences...ala a wave 5 of 5 of 5. In between this topping we should have a few false starts on the down low to flush put the bears wanting to ride the dead bull down the slope of hope till we finally top in a last desparate struggle 1163, 1175, 1200. I dont have a clue. but Bears I THINK IF WE HOLD OFF ON THE SHORTING TILL MID-MAY THEN THIS PIG WILL DIE QUICKER.[sell in May go Away is the way I'm playing it]

I may be wrong we'll c [Have a look at the HGX I posted 3 months ago on the same page....wrong, wrong, wrong....its so dangerous to be bearish at times]

The chart below[last chart on page] shows 1 way it could happen a DOWPIG top with a nasty RSI divergence ie I dont see the RSI hitting 77 again anytime soon but we could see a 11K DOW

we will c

DOWPIG Top with Nasty Divergences ?

P.S. Now for the bad news ..my 2nd and 3rd charts show my DAX and Nasdaq targets into 2005 after which I expect a 80% decline into the 2006 4yr cycle low

Looks like Powell is the source for Woodward's new book, essentially exposing Cheney as the leader of the shadow government that led bush by the nose into a war to benefit his oil buddies. Cheney will be exposed as the guy who sat on Tenent to provide the President with only the intelligence that supported Cheney's POV. Cheney kept Bush from hearing all the facts. He came to the job with a singular agenda..."to own Iraq's oil." Cheney led the country into a war under false pretense. This administration is toast.

Mr. Woodward's account quickly provoked speculation in Washington that Mr. Powell might have cooperated with Mr. Woodward as the book was being prepared in an effort to distance himself from the Iraq war.

A spokesman for Mr. Powell said Friday night that he could not determine whether the secretary had spoken with Mr. Woodward.

Mr. Powell has made no secret in the past that he has helped Mr. Woodward with other books. Only Mr. Bush and Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld are identified by the author as having given on-the-record interviews for the book. But conversations between Mr. Powell and Mr. Bush are quoted verbatim in the book, and in the account of the January 2003 conversation, Mr. Bush is identified only as a corroborating source.

Richard A. Boucher, Mr. Powell's spokesman, declined to comment on the book, saying he had not read it and adding: `We won't do book reviews. I promise." Asked if it were true that Mr. Powell and Mr. Cheney were barely on speaking terms, Mr. Boucher said, "I think that's not true."

Among the previously unknown episodes presented in the book was a White House meeting in December 2002 in which Mr. Tenet and his deputy, John McLaughlin, met with Mr. Bush and his top advisers for what was intended as a dress rehearsal for a public presentation of the administration's claim that Iraq possessed illicit weapons.

Mr. Bush was not impressed by the presentation, the book reports, and urged that it be refined to make a stronger case to "Joe Public." He is said to have turned to Mr. Tenet and said, "I've been told all this intelligence about having W.M.D. and this is the best we've got?

RE: Hyper's "body count".

It doesn't serve the administration to over count the dead on either side. There is no independent source of any integrity to verify their, or anybody elses for that matter, body count. It is not unreasonable to assume that at the very least the body count is not accurate and is likely to be under reported by those issuing the report.

This really smacks of a larger phenomenon relating to the way viturally all of our data and information is fed to us. Take for example the ISM (previously the PMI) reports. This is a compilation of surveys of businesses. Seems straight forward and innocent enough. The problem is the participants in the survey have no idea what the other reposndents are reporting. They only have their own experience and possibly the experience of close business associates to draw on. So in theory you could have 100% of the respondents reporting lousy business conditions, and yet through falsification have the report come out with glowing numbers and none of the participants would be any the wiser. They would all assume they are the exception and not the rule. Of course the other problem with this kind of survey is that the respondents themselves may report bertter conditions than actually exist because they don't want to appear to be a failure. The only way to avoid this is to have all of the participants in the same room reporting with verified data. Never going to happen of course. Please realize that these comments are not intended as a slam on the ISM, as they may indeed be a truthful attempt at quantifying business conditions. They were merely chosen as a possible example.

But getting back to the body count issue. Indivdual families are likely to know if their sons, daughters or spouse has been killed, injured or permanently damaged by DU. But unless you put them all in the same "room" at the same time, neither they or you have any true knowledge as to what the totals are. The administration can report anything they want to and absolutely get away with it. This is doubly true when it comes to reporting the dead and injured Iraqis, as verification would be virtually impossible.

The American people have been falsely "comforted" by our use of "smart" weapons. A 1,000 pound bomb does not have pin point precision in who it kills. It does not selectively kill only the insurgents in one room and not harm the family living next door. While it is a vast improvement over the carpet bombing from the Viet Nam era, it is still a morally bankrupt policy when applied to the Iraq situation and any use of cluster type bombs or DU weapons smacks of total disregard for human life. I find no moral difference between our Christian President's permission for these tactics and the repulsion we would all have if a Christian minister walked into a day care center waving a Bible with one hand and spraying the children with the lethal fire from an Uzi with the other hand.
