14= 1/2 of 28. A 14 day oscillator represents a 28 day cycle or thereabouts. In that sense a sell signal in a short term oscialltor can't be major. It's a sell signal for the cycle it represents. If longer waves are early in an up phase, a sell signal on 14 day oscillator will signal a down phase in a 28 day cycle, which may not be visible at all, given the strong upward slope of the early part of a 6 month and 1 year cycle. Six month and 1 year cycle oscillators show an early up phase within a very strong long term uptrend. Unless you are scalping, short cycle oscillator sell signals should be ignored. If you sell gold stocks at any time in this bull market, the probability is that they will run away from you before you can buy them back at the hoped for lower price.

My Good Doktor,

tanks a gazillion for your clarification of turmoil in Gold market.

I will watch for that long-term-signal,

and just "enjoy" the short term oscillations.

Sigmoid Friend, look at the 14-day ADX during that period. The uptrend was much stronger there (ADX was much higher then RSI crossed back below 70) - so, the correction was weaker. Also, look at the Bollinger band width. We didn't have so much distance between the bands back then, meaning that the "blow off" was much weaker.

Doc, I see what you mean. I am not selling my gold stocks - unless they fall below their 50-dmas, and I buy them back when the rise above, so they aren't going to run anywhere without me. ;) Still, I think that we had a top. We might have a sharp correction, like in June - or just a sideways one like in February; we'll see soon enough.

Regards,

Vesselin

If you ever saw Something About Mary, Mary's stepfather says to Ben Stiller at one point, "Boy, don't make me open up a can of Whoopass!" My initial thoughts are to a picture of him, eyes bulging on the can. That may have copyright problems. I dunno. Let me look around for an appropriate picture of him. If you have an idea I'm easy. I'll PM you when I come up with a picture of him. Rockhead mentioned something about a WWF wrestler named Austin who uses the term. I'll try to find a picture of him as well.

Dont do searches for WWF....its now WWE. The World Wildlife Federation (WWF) didnt like the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) using their acronym for a while back, so they hauled the wrestlers into court. WWrestlingF is now WWE. Besides it IS entertainment!

I just did some searches for Austin and didnt find anything really good. He was indeed the wrestler who used to say "open a can of whopass".

Maybe Rockhead needs to implement "The Rock's" (the wrester's) signature move on the market....the rock bottom. LOL. It does have a nice ring to it...doesnt it.

Maybe we need some WWE diva pictures on here when the market get going in the wrong direction. What the hell, wrestiling or the markets, they are both a game.

MU shot up AH so I thought their report made Wack Street happy but, then MU came down and I still can't tell if they have reported. At least, I haven't found anything yet.

Mousey, I think you got the punctuation wrong, shouldn't it be:

"MU shot up after hours, A(ss)H(oles), so I thought.....etc."
