Guest
With half of Oz closed for a holiday its a quiet one on the market. Flagpole on open and now the sideways grind. All Ords currently +0.5% which is not bad but volume fairly low. Interestingly golds, which were hit for around 5% on open, are now well off their lows. Lihir -2.4%, Newcrest -4.4% and Newmont -3.8%. Asia on a run: Nikkei +1.2%, Singers +2.4% (!)
Guest
More of the same this arvo. In fact I'd say most of the punters gave up at lunchtime and found something more exciting to do as volume into close was abysmal. All Ords closed +17.2 (+0.5%) and it was, after the initial flagpole, a low volatility sideways move all day. Could mean more up, on the other hand....? The golds not looking too bad at all considering. Lihir -1.8, Newcrest -3.4%, Newmont -3.6%. Oops Nikkei did a bit of a late day plunge, closing +0.3%, well off the highs. Singers way up there at +2.8% and Honkers +1.7%.

alceringa
Great week for a world cup!!!!!!!!! Local betting line has the All Blacks as favorites at $1 bet returns $2. Makes sense to me. Don't think men who can dance really get appreciated for it often enough! SA returns $17. Behind the Frogs at $14, but ahead of Ireland at $41. But how about this? According to the betting line, Tonga, at $1001, is favored over the USA ($2501), Japan, Romania, Georgia, Namibia, and Uruguay (all at $3001).
