:D Welcome to B4 The Bell! :D

Quoting Machinehead on July 22:

The front month for crude oil is now the Sep. 2004 contract.

The contract high was set a week ago at $41.90. It's within 50 cents of that level today.

Crude oil going over $42.38 (this year's high for any front month) will finish off the market and Bubble II for good.

Well we breeched that price in trading this morning. Be prepared for the shockwave coming. :o

Mortgage activity didn't improve much at all last week. The credit bubble is running out of gas - and it's not getting any from energy prices! ;)

US mortgage applications rise in July 23 week-MBA

Wed Jul 28, 2004 06:59 AM ET

NEW YORK, July 28 (Reuters) - New applications for U.S. mortgages climbed last week for the first time in three weeks as most mortgage interest rates increased, an industry group said on Wednesday.

The Mortgage Bankers Association said its seasonally adjusted market index, a measure of mortgage activity, moved slightly higher for the week ending July 23 by 0.6 percent to 621.4 from the previous week's 617.9.

The Washington trade group's purchase index, a gauge of new loan requests for home purchases, rose last week by 1 percent to 444.8 from 440.3 in the prior week.

The Washington trade group's seasonally adjusted refinancing index dipped by 0.1 percent to 1,648.8 from previous week's 1,651.1.

Thirty-year mortgage rates, excluding fees, averaged 5.97 percent, up 0.01 percentage point from the previous week. Last week's average 30-year rates were up 0.1 percentage point from the comparable week a year ago.

For the past 2 years I've kind of been talking about the ability of the monetary authorities to engineer bottoms...

That's what the plunge protection team does best.

When they can't engineer a bottom anymore then other covering events can take place...

Osama planned and executed this operation perfectly...Years in the planning...to crash the DOW below long term resistance...

Why did the DOW breakdown past the almost 3 year resistance line?

Answer...Osama...

If the board stalls today, as it probably will since we have not identified the cause, please hold off on posting or refresh the page for about 3 minutes. The spike usually drops back within 3 minutes. If everyone is constantly refreshing the page, it exacerbates things.

I am working with the hosting company to identify the cause and correct it. Also have a new server on order.

Stoolmail , which may be the cause of the problem due to spammer abuse, and virus infected emails, will be shut down August 3. If you have any valuable messages there, save them to your hard drive.

hiding bear - had breakfast with a buddy who knows an appraiser that shares offices with a bunch of residential appraisers. he says they are are dead in the water. talked to another buddy who sells real estate. he said 2 months ago there were ONLY 5 listings in his target market and a ton of pending sales. now there are 32 listings and listings/offered out-number pending sales by a ratio of 5 to 1.

i suspect WAMU gets taken out. just a guess ;)
