Acxiom chief?s memo urges workers to focus amid talk of job cuts

BY JAKE BLEED

Posted on Saturday, March 27, 2004

On the same day Acxiom Corp. confirmed a plan to cut jobs as part of a companywide reorganization, Company Leader Charles Morgan sent a message to employees Thursday asking that they "concentrate on completing all the things we need to get done" to achieve the company?s goals for the fiscal year. "I know there have been rumors flying and countless grapevine discussions about activities surrounding the impending structural organization ? and that they?ve been distracting and troubling," Morgan stated in the message, which was provided by an Acxiom employee Friday.

Hmmm...let's see, the most beautiful parks in the world, emptied of all those great unwashed masses during every weekend of the coming summer.  Now who do you suppose will be afforded "special access" to those parks on the weekends?

What a coup for those select few beltway elite, to enjoy our National Parks as if they were their very own country clubs.  Now I more fully understand why Price, Watahose, Coopers issued a recent study suggesting there would not be enough hotel rooms to go around this summer.

Dat will be when da bosses are a goin' hunting. Chenney will be taking some top judges with him. Perhaps they'll let some Guatamo's loose as a special prey. :shocked

Heck, no!

On the weekends, they will be drilling to remove all that nasty greasy oil and cutting trees that stand in the way of loggers trying to tidy up the forests, and in other ways they'll be cleaning up our national environment.

Can't have all those tourists getting in the way and getting hurt!

Part of the new public health safety program.

Keeping tourist cars out of the parks will also enhance the quality of the air.

Part of the new Clean Air Policy.

OUR GOVT IS TAKING GOOD CARE OF US!!!

ITS IN OUR BEST INTEREST!

We need to stay home so we are protected from the terrorists.

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- After a weak start, U.S. auto sales are expected to pick up this spring as winter fades and an election-year economy sweeps more people into prosperity.

Stop you're killing me. My sides are aching form the laughter.

Credit card delinquincies at a new high. Too bad they took the maximum advance to pay their mortgage and don't have enough left over to make the minimum payment on their card.

Over 1 million people will exhaust their state unempolyment bennies this month and Congress hasn't passed another extension plan.

Easy Al said he see signs of an improving job market. Earth to Al, "Now Hiring Burger Flippers" on the McDs reader board is a sign but possibly not what the people really need.

I've always remembered with bemusement my old boss back in, um, 1982 or 83, who always urged us to ignore the rumors of take-overs, mergers, & lay-offs, and to "relax and enjoy your job".

Oh jeez ... I can see it now.

You field a phone call from Mumbai ... "Hello, good sir ... I am the tax wallah ... you had best pay up promptly, good sir, or we shall levy your bank account."

GDP will rise another two percent with the resultant productivity increase.

When you read that a Department of the Goobermint of the people and by the people (and all that crap) decides to outsource to India-you just gotta put your head down-long enough to decide wether to laugh or cry. This decision ranks right up there with those other three knee slappers of the week-Rummy and Shrub on 9-11 urging the bombing of iraq cause there were no good targets in Afghan Land and Senator Grassley still pressing to build the Amazon Rain Forest in Iowa and deficit be damned. And of course closing the National Parks on the week end to save money. The Great unwashed of course are to busy consuming to even notice what is going on so in the end everyone is going to get what they deserve-Sad, Sad, Sad.!

for those of you, with lazy intellects, and a tendency to simply extrapolate what has been done in Texas to what will be done for the whole USofA:

Crawford Heavy-Handed Security

"It is by the goodness of God that in our country we have those three unspeakably precious things: freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and the prudence never to practice either. "

--- Mark Twain

As an aside, Twain was one of the founders of the Anti-Imperialist League. "On June 15, 1898, the Anti-Imperialist League formed to fight U.S. annexation of the Philippines, citing a variety of reasons ranging from the economic to the legal to the racial to the moral. It included among its members such notables as Andrew Carnegie, Mark Twain, ..."

It's interesting how one of America most gifted and ascerbic social satirists has been sanitized to such adegree so as to be safe for a Disney movie for children.
