Merriman Astro Call For 12/09/02

Recommended Posts

Week of December 9

All the major indices of the world made new multi-week highs, or double tops to their multi-week highs, on Monday or Tuesday (December 2-3). All then sold off to form weekly lows on Friday before recovering somewhat into the close. This result is a little off from the projection made the last two weeks, in which I expected a crest to form December 4-18, followed by a sharp 1-3 week correction.

As stated last week, "By the end of the week, the Moon will move to Capricorn, and Mercury will be in opposition to Saturn. The euphoria of all the Sagittarius and Jupiter influences may give way to more realistic reasons for worry. Still, the Sun will trine Jupiter the following week, December 10, so the push and pull between bears and bulls could continue. In fact, it may even continue into December 18, when Jupiter trines Pluto, just one day after the Sun is in opposition to Saturn. Jupiter is up, Saturn is down, but when they are happening together, it is struggle as to which one dominates. My bias is that sometime between December 4-18, a temporary top will be in with most of the world's stock indices, and a rather sharp 1-3 week decline will follow.

As one can see, the Jupiter and Sagittarius (bullish) signatures are still in effect, but lessening through December 18. At the same time, there are increasing bearish signatures in effect, which have to do with Saturn and Pluto, and the signs that they rule: Capricorn and Scorpio. Mars is now in Scorpio, December 1 through January 17, a time that generally is associated with an increase in international tensions. During this period, equity prices tend to struggle, whereas precious metals oftentimes stage impressive rallies. Along with Mars, Venus is also in Scorpio through January 7, a sign that is its detriment (weak). The Scorpio element is highlighted in another way this Monday, as the Sun will conjunct Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio.

Besides an increase in international tensions, the heavy emphasis of Scorpio and Pluto can coincide with the frustration of the world and national economies. In the United States, we saw a bit of that early Friday morning as both Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill and Chief Economic Advisor Larry Lindsey were pressured to resign amidst the continuing signs of the weak economy. And interestingly enough, instead of leading to a further equity market sell-off, all the stock markets of the world began to rally shortly after this announcement. Perhaps it is because it took place during the applying trine of Jupiter to Pluto. That aspect suggests that elimination and/or changes regarding economic policy may be a good thing.

The aspects for this coming week are interesting. On Monday and Tuesday, the Sun conjuncts Pluto, followed by the trine to Jupiter. This could indicate an end to the decline, and the reversal back up to new highs by the time Jupiter trines Pluto December 18, +/- 3 trading days. It could mean that the market gets just a temporary 1-3 day breather before continuing its plight down into that same period, to complete the half-primary cycle trough discussed last week. The technical picture has moved from bullish to neutral. But if the market continues to lower prices after Tuesday, these same technical signatures will turn bearish.

This is an important point in the longer-term cycles picture. Any new high now (above 9043 in the Dow Jones Industrial Averages, 1522 in the NASDAQ Comp, or 9320 in the Nikkei, and 3477 in the German Dax) will move our cyclical picture to very bullish. It will strongly suggest that the 4-year cycle did indeed bottom October 10, and prices can continue in a bull market for 5-32 months. But until we take out the highs of last Monday and Tuesday, the case for the bears remains open. Much will probably depend on the response to disclosure by Iraq this week to the U.N. demand of weapons reporting. How will it go? At first, disbelief (Sun conjunct Pluto), followed by euphoria (Sun trine Jupiter). The euphoria could last 1 day or 1 week. Then, when all the soft Jupiter aspects end, we are left with major planets in Scorpio and Capricorn, which is a bit more worrisome through late December, and perhaps even into April 2003.

Hood... Just finished your prior thread and was treated to a new one here. I sincerely thank you for your time spend posting and sharing all you interpret. It is greatly appreciated and seriously sobering.

Reading this information, I find it does not (am I right ?) square with your personal readings of an enviroment in the springtime that would allow for Bull market conditions regardless if we should surpass the 9043 level on the dow. Any additional clarification would be appreciated. PLEASE continue to post whenever possible.

Hadjin what is most interesting is the noise aspect. Doc, Gann, Hurst often speak of news being just noise that really will not distract the market from its eventual trends and turns. As always I make no claims to being a financial astrologer. Chasmo says he is not either, but if you look at his calls for the last several months now....he is better than most pros. :wink2: Now the question is can the markets ignore what the mundane charts are showing. I view late winter and early spring as the "grand catharsis". I believe we will be witness to pofound changes for the family of man.

Now the question is can the markets ignore what the mundane charts are showing.

Nope. The cycles are the cycles and Mother Nature is a strict Dominatrix not to be second-guessed or trifled with.

Remember, we're still in the Twilight Zone influence of the notorious Saturn/Pluto opposition that has historically resulted in *years* of war and financial hardship.

I'm pretty much a non-trader but am currently looooooong gold because I believe so strongly in the astro influences and what they portend.

FWIW

Hood,

Thanks for the Kudos.

Meriman article I like as he covers basically all the things one might think about and basically sees it the way I did in my last post ie that with the full moon on Saturn we are entering a period of negativity that could should bring the markets down a bit.

I must confess the fireings of Oneil and Lindsey caught me by surprise and I do wonder if this is a sign of positive influence via Jupiter retrograde trine Pluto.

I think a possible up early next week with Sun trine Jupiter is not a bad call on his part. After that there is not that much astro to support the market and this market is looking weak.

Last week when Mercury was opposite Saturn on Thursday was a solid down day but on wednesday when the moon came over Pluto conjunct Jupiter it was unable to rise and was even down a little bit.

To my way of thinking that was an eye opener. In a bullish phase of the market and aspect like that with the moon and Pluto and Jupiter there would be a real moon shot.

Bought bearx on Monday and think, feel, I will be able to do the buy hold thing for some time now.Like many I fear the fourth quarter ramp but with that being over is hard to see anything that is going to take this market past the August highs.

Thanks for posting the Merriman article. He is good at showing one what there is to think about.

Venus Mars in scorpio will square Bushs Mercury Pluto conjunction about mid month almost at the time it is square transiting Neptune.

I have feeling He will be indicating at this time that Iraq has falied his standard for disclosure of weapens and there will be a real feeling that bad things are about to happen.Kind of think this will put a crimp in any would be Santa claus rally this year.
