hear Germany is in depression

well, after all, it was a experiment which only could go wrong:

you take your "land of milk and honey" social security system and give it also to your new brothers and sisters (former GDR that is) and everything will be fine. The fact that former east germans did not pay a single penny into that system doesnt play a role, no probelm.

Sounds like communism did defeat capitalism.

At least in Germany.

As is usually the case, just not in the way anyone expected or predicted.

Based on the German experience, the South Koreans must dread the though of peaceful reunification with North Korea.

On the other hand, in South Korean, unlike in Germany, if you don't work, then you don't eat. Or close to it.

ah anothr thing about the socila security system in german:

when it was invented it was like people worked 50 years (and so payed 50 years into the system) and had a retirement say something like 10 years.

Now people work 35-40 years but their retirement is something like 25 years.

Complete different structure of workforce and population but still same system.

and still there are people who think everything will go on like before

I'm seeing the 10 yr with a yield of 4.62 now. Snowjob must be elated. Shows a good recovery in progress. B) :P

Yeah, wasn't that an incredible display of utter stupidity? Of all of them, John Snow has quickly distinguished himself as the greatest liability the gubmit has on the current payroll, and that's saying a lot.
