PATCHES

========

I had to install an additional hard drive in a computer today. Hard drives are about like closet space. They eventually all fill up.

The hard drive was a 3.5-inch drive. Computer components come in either 5.25-inch or 3.5-inch sizes. The computer didn't have any 3.5 bays open, only a 5.25-inch.

I looked at the drive and I looked at the bay. The 3.5 inch drive fit the bay like a matchbox in a mailbox. You can buy an adapter kit that adapts 3.5-inch components to 5.25 bays. You can buy the kit if you go to the computer store, which for me was a 45-minute round trip drive.

I patched.

In many instances in life, you won't have the exact thing that you need. It won't fit specs. It won't be "recommended by the manufacturer." It may even void the warranty, but it's all you've got.

I used Velcro.

I can hear the computer enthusiasts saying, "You used Velcro to install a hard drive!"

Yes, I did.

And you know what. It worked.

The hard drive is almost as secure as if I had taken the 45-minute trip to the store and got the recommended part. The Velcro will even hold the drive through anything but the most extreme earthquake. If an earthquake happens that shakes the drive loose, I will have a lot more to worry about than a loose hard drive.

I looked at the makeshift mount sitting in the oversized bay.

Engineers would have frowned.

Systems anal cysts would have shaken their heads.

But nothing in the hard drive instructions said, "do not mount with Velcro." Maybe they never figured anyone would.

You do what you have to do to make it work with what you've got.

So what if the world frowns on your Velcro?

You are making it work.

So what if it's a little unusual.

You are making it work.

So what if it's not in style or doesn't have a designer name?

You are making it work.

Patches

It's what we have to do to make it with what we have.

You may not be able to afford a marriage counselor when things get rough. So you patch.

You may not be able to have a personal trainer when you need to lose a few pounds. So you patch.

You may not be able to go on a Caribbean cruise when you need a vacation. So you patch.

My parents did it.

My grandparents did it.

My great-grandparents did it.

They were expert patchers.

They made do with what they had and so must we.

And you know what?

The more I looked at the installation, the better it looked. The more I thought about it, the more it made sense.

The Velcro actually is a cushion. A hard drive's worst enemy is shock. A hard knock and it's out of commission. The Velcro was like a little sponge that it rested securely on.

Sometimes patches have advantages over the original. If you buy a hard drive one day and it comes with a Velcro strip to mount it with,

you'll know where they got the idea.

From a patcher.

I will be shorting at 11:00am as I expect da boyz to stick save this at the open and let it go after 11:00 to 12:00am. We will see. Remember, this might be the longs last chance to get out at the top and for gold buyer to buy at the low here this week. Good luck everyone as the point of reconigion is at hand.

Good morning all. Thanks to Glad.

This could be quite a show this morning. Looks like we'll open down near key support levels for short term bulls (SG, Mark?). And dangerously close to breakout decline points for bears (Brian4, Piles).

I went home flat Friday. May be a small buyer early. But, after the early fireworks, I continue to see a low volume sideways grind until the war clears out, maybe soon.

Good trading.

842 here we come. A headfake later, and capitulation phase of the bear/end of the hope rally ensues. I love all the permabulls and new bulls assisting IT bears like myself 'buy the dips' to only accelerate the inevitable. This is all so predictable. But be cautious, as policy-maker interventions are a likely result if things get too nasty, nast-ouch.

Noted from my SG Waves weekend threads... the magic of .618

Just as a brief follow on topic to my Monday predictions...

.618 is a magical fibonacci sequencing number. This is found in all forms of nature, plants, tree branches, cells, you name it, even the Pyramids of Egypt.

Lets just give a few examples.

The recent 8 day rally to March 21 was almost exactly at .618 retrace off the Dec 2 highs and March 12 lows.

The recent pullback from Dec 2 highs of 28.55 on the Q's and 23.32 on the Q's of Feb 13 (low) was an EXACT .618 retrace of the Oct 9th low of 20.06 and the Dec 2 high of 28.55.

I mean, exact....

The coming C wave up should likely be a .618% move of the A wave move up into March 21 time frame, which was a fibonacci 8 days in duration. This leg of B down should probably end this morning, a 5 day fibonacci time wise move down.

So, .618% of the 23.52 to 27.38 move into March 21 is $2.38 on the Q's

If the low is 25.44 as I've supposed... then we go to 27.82, amazingly enough, that is the target I gave out on my thread for a possible C wave top.

Its possible the Q's could go down to a .618 fibonacci retrace B wave bottom of 25.04 today, a prior area of resistance in the first quarter....

25.04 plus 2.38 is 27.42, just above the A wave high of March 21....

Watch and learn in amazement... I always do...

SG Waves thread over the weekend predicted the Monday morning movements and prices to watch. Actually ,the E waves predicted this well over a week ago as seen on my thread with Annotated charts etc.... as early as 10 days ago in fact...

The beauty of .618 in nature and in stock markets is breathtaking.

Good luck today stoolies... News fits the market...

Good morning and Good Stool to all!

As our good friend merciless would say. WOOOOWOWZA! Down 14.60 on the Spoos.

Taking a look at the Suctors and Stoolwethers, virtually everything has hit upside cmaps and sell signals are popping up everywhere. There are some wonderful intermediate term short sale set-ups.

Doc has repeatedly said, "As goes Buck, so goes the stock market." Last night, Buck finished unwinding the entire rally since March 13. Draw your own conclusions.

Careful there Doc on the Dollar

As I posted on M2M sunday...

Gold bouncing in a wave bounce up briefly

Dollar pulling back in a corrective wave

Interest rates (bonds) dropping in a corrective wave briefly

SP, NAS, etc pulling back in a brief ABC corrective.

All of the above will reverse shortly in tandem...

Higher stocks, lower gold, lower bonds, higher dollar...

IMO... bears need not cheer too much yet. The laws of .618 retraces usually hold true...
