Mars
She bear assuming what you just posted was true, that is beyond Criminal and beyond belief! The Republicans seem to think they benefit by working to thwart the basic right to vote. How patriotic! Republicans steal elections by disqualifying voters. Democrats have stolen elections in the past with the "graveyard vote." Both of these parties would qualify for RICO racketeering convictions ... except they conveniently exempted themselves! As for the 80-lb paper scam in Ohio -- they'll gladly accept your tax return on any paper that will hold ink. It's when you want something out of the deal that all the rules have to be followed punctiliously. Sucks, don't it? But criminal predators never have been 'victim friendly' ... If you are in a Republican run state you should register Republican and if in a Democrat run state as a Democrat. This way they leave you alone regardless of the poundage of your paper. Registration doesn't cost anything and you can always vote for who you want to. Never register independent. Just makes you a target.
Dustbowl
Debates? I don't think so. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6115913/site/newsweek/ Democracy? I don't think so. A "free" election? I don't think so. Should we really care? Does it matter? I don't think so.

Can't you just picture the $7 per hour civil servant opening each envelope and holding the paper up to the flickering overhead flourescent light and carefully examining the grain structure, quality and heft of the paper stock upon which each such application is submitted...in hopes of seeing the telltale "80 lb. Guest
Speaking of influencing elections...it's nice to see that the citizens of Iraq are being treated just as respectfully by the Republican Party as the citizens of Ohio. Don't we all for great about ourselves? Published in the October 4, 2004 issue of Time Magazine The Bush Administration Takes Heat for a CIA Plan to Influence Iraq's Elections by Timothy J. Burger; Douglas Waller President Bush and interim Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi insisted last week that Iraq would go ahead with elections scheduled for January, despite continuing violence. But U.S. officials tell TIME that the Bush team ran into trouble with another plan involving those elections ? a secret "finding" written several months ago proposing a covert CIA operation to aid candidates favored by Washington. A source says the idea was to help such candidates ? whose opponents might be receiving covert backing from other countries, like Iran ? but not necessarily to go so far as to rig the elections. But lawmakers from both parties raised questions about the idea when it was sent to Capitol Hill. In particular, House minority leader Nancy Pelosi "came unglued" when she learned about what a source described as a plan for "the CIA to put an operation in place to affect the outcome of the elections." Pelosi had strong words with National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice in a phone call about the issue. http://www.commondreams.org/headlines04/0928-01.htm

The Republicans seem to think they benefit by working to thwart the basic right to vote. How patriotic! Last year when california recalled the democrat governor, the democrat state secretary had to be taken to court more than once to force him to follow the recall law, and also to force him to accurately and quickly count ballots, as required by law. Private attorneys had to be used to force a public official to follow the law. Not one Democrat in office in California made a negative comment regarding the dirty tactics. They were defending the guy! Democrats will use every dirty and illegal trick in the book too, and have for many, many years.
Guest
A voice with first hand knowledge of Facist ideology: Published on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 by CommonDreams.org Why We Must Not Re-elect President Bush by George Soros Immediately after 9/11 there was a spontaneous outpouring of sympathy for us worldwide. It has given way to an equally widespread resentment. There are many more people willing to risk their lives to kill Americans than there were on September 11 and our security, far from improving as President Bush claims, is deteriorating. I am afraid that we have entered a vicious circle of escalating violence where our fears and their rage feed on each other. It is not a process that is likely to end any time soon. If we re-elect President Bush we are telling the world that we approve his policies - and we shall be at war for a long time to come. I realize that what I am saying is bound to be unpopular. We are in the grip of a collective misconception induced by the trauma of 9/11, and fostered by the Bush administration. No politician could say it and hope to get elected. That is why I feel obliged to speak out. There is a widespread belief that President Bush is making us safe. The opposite is true. President Bush failed to finish off bin Laden when he was cornered in Afghanistan because he was gearing up to attack Iraq. And the invasion of Iraq bred more people willing to risk their lives against Americans than we are able to kill - generating the vicious circle I am talking about. President Bush likes to insist that the terrorists hate us for what we are - a freedom loving people - not what we do. Well, he is wrong on that. He also claims that the torture scenes at Abu Graib prison were the work of a few bad apples. He is wrong on that too. They were part of a system of dealing with detainees put in place by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and our troops in Iraq are paying the price. http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0928-16.htm
