psyche doctor
I don't use credit cards anymore, none period. I have one prepaid that I use only for those occassions where one is absolutely needed. I always pay for things in cash. I never use the store cards, like the Speedy rewards, grocery stores etc. They use the cards to gather info about you and sell that info off. I never receive mail at my home address. My assetts are listed under New Mexico LLC's and a trust. My credit reports are frozen, all of them, because I don't need their stinking credit anymore and no one needs to look at it any way. I use my passport as my primary ID. I only show my driver's license when absolutely necessary (police officer request). I don't participate in social media (farcebook/myspace etc.) I wouldn't mind having a Canadian bank account, but haven't explored that yet. Think I am paranoid, heh. Realize it or not, with advancing technology, we are quickly loosing privacy and I value my privacy. Besides that, ever been the victim of identity theft, financial fraud or frivolous lawsuit or been stalked by a crazy from the opposite sex, or worse yet, a member of your own sex (uggh)? I would have bought that fridge without disclosing my name (or give them Stepan N. Stool) and tell them to stick that debit card up their ass. Ok, I kinda got carried away with that but... http://www.clickorlando.com/news/Bars-stores-to-use-facial-recognition-technology-to-increase-sales/-/1637132/8859986/-/1uomquz/-/index.html http://www.myfoxboston.com/dpp/news/local/facebook-photos-stolen-put-on-child-pornography-site-20120214 http://epautos.com/2012/01/30/obd-iii-the-motor-law-realized/
DrStool
Had a weird experience. The frig at our house went out so we ordered a new one from Maytag. It seems like a decent enough frig. It was delivered much later than was promised. When I asked about compensation for that, I was told there was a $25 "inconvenience fee" that would be paid to me. Well, today a Citibank debit card with $25 on it arrived from Maytag. The account agreement lists a number of fees attached to the card, including a monthly "account maintenance fee." The agreement does not even bother to state the amount of this fee but states that the fees for the first twelve months will not be collected until the 12 month anniversary date of the card. So the unsuspecting consumer may have 12 months of fees applied to their account, before the charges appear and they realize they owe them. The name on the card is my last name, with a single initial printed on it in place of the first name. It is not even my correct initial, but is the last letter of my first name. Sometimes I can't imagine why those of us who are not bankers, ever put up with these banks, as they are devious, incompetent, and leeches. Why not get rid of them? Lately, money in the mattress pays almost as much interest on it as banks do, anyway. What good are they? I think you meant fridge. Frig is a sex act. DrStool
Frig was the strongest word my father would ever use. If he was really angry at someone he'd say, "That friggin' guy!" My mother on the other hand, cusses like a drunken sailor.

bundys_dodge
Buy and hold may be dead. But, buy and "hold for eternity" is not... Apple’s Shareholder Meeting Brings Out Newly Minted Millionaires Take Rich Bleyle, a retired teacher attending the annual meeting from Buffalo, New York. He and his wife Mary spent $16,000 on Apple shares in 1997, about the same time late co-founder Steve Jobs returned to the company. Today, the couple has about $2 million worth of Apple shares. Rich, with a handlebar mustache and wearing a blue t-shirt that said “Macho Man,” said the couple sold only 200 shares since that initial investment and still owns another 3,800. - Mark Barchas, who has owned shares for about 14 years, owns an iPhone, iPad, iMac and Apple TV. He’s such a fan that he can’t bring himself to sell the shares, even as they hit record highs. “One time he sold and couldn’t sleep until he bought it back,” said his wife, Kay. http://go.bloomberg.com/tech-blog/2012-02-23-apple%E2%80%99s-shareholder-meeting-brings-out-newly-minted-millionaires/

If you use anything but cash they can track you down, as long as they give you a number instead of a name it seems to be all legal.
