As of this morning, silver has climbed halfway up the 30-cent downside gap that occurred in April.

The silver-to-SOX ratio is going parabolic.

The silver to underwear ratio is more informative. You can judge market dynamics by the fullness of the underwear of the short positions.

Morning Crew- That statement by the Idiot prince about Iran is self fufilling. Iran now will stir the pot in Iraq on a more overt basis giving the fool the reason to go in. I am looking for a real rough day here, a down the crapper day. Opening at the Bell for 50 minutes and YES-the Chair Thrower is in Da House...Helmets on, Buckle up! ;)

brian4,

What a way to start the week with "The Chair Thrower" in da house! :D

Maybe Bob Pissonme or Ranger Rick will co-opt this piece of your vernacular as well!

.........But what if there aren't any brakes?

You push the brake pedal down to the hilt. There's no resistance. You pull the emergency brake - and find that you are holding it in your hand - broken!

Just like in the example, our real-life economy has no "brakes."

We have a "cooling system" (or rather a throttle) that keeps the engine from overheating on its way up that recovery-hill. This is the Fed's ability to raise rates and slow down its monetary stimulus in case of wide-spread price rises. But the Fed has no way of keeping the economy from rolling backwards down that hill (and possibly over the embankment and down the cliff) in case the transmission fails!

Compare the US situation with that of Japan from 1989 to the present. Unlike today's US economy, the Japanese economy did have "brakes." Its brakes were the tremendous personal savings amassed by Japanese investors before and during their decade-long economic malaise. These savings are what literally saved the Japanese economy (and even more importantly, the Japanese themselves) from going over the rim. But Americans have near-zero savings!

Iran claims number-two position for world oil reserves

TEHRAN : Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh announced that new oil discoveries in the southwest of the country now meant the Islamic republic held the number-two position in world crude reserves.

All the better to war you for.

Absolute stupidity to announce that you have more of something the US wants.

Unless they have something up their sleeves or elsewhere. B)

An unprecedented number of video cameras will be trained on Boston during the Democratic National Convention, with Boston police installing some 30 cameras near the FleetCenter, the Coast Guard using infrared devices and night-vision cameras in the harbor, and dozens of pieces of surveillance equipment mounted on downtown buildings to monitor crowds for terrorists, unruly demonstrators, and ordinary street crime.

For the first time, 75 high-tech video cameras operated by the federal government will be linked into a surveillance network to monitor the Central Artery, City Hall Plaza, the FleetCenter, and other sensitive sites. Their feeds from cameras mounted on various downtown buildings will be piped to monitoring stations in the Boston area and in Washington, D.C., and officials will be able to zoom in from their work stations to gather details of facial descriptions or read license plates.

Velcome to Easssst Germany ... your papers pleaze, comrade ...
