....our economy is the strongest of any major industrialized country in the world."

That's on a "pro-forma" basis...

I heard on CNN just yesterday, that the USA's trade deficit with China is more or less 5x!

Now who's stronger?

Trade wars coming up.

"o point out the obvious: The asset and credit bubbles that

have been inflating consumer spending ? bonds, stocks,

mortgage refinancing ? are plainly deflating. The property

bubble will soon follow for lack of funding. In short, we

see savage deflation for the asset markets, but stagflation

for the economy - and it is so obvious that no one can see

it. This will soon change.

I think the new Iraq gov't just issued an eviction notice:

However, recent remarks by Prime Minister Iyad Allawi, President Ghazi al-Yawer and others suggest that they don't intend to be pushovers though they may share America's goals of a stable, prosperous and democratic Iraq.

One example is control of Saddam's former Republican Palace, which has become the headquarters for the U.S.-led coalition. U.S. officials want to stay there, saying there will not be enough room in the American Embassy for all the offices that the new diplomatic mission will require.

But al-Yawer told reporters Tuesday that the Iraqi government wants the Republican Palace back.

"There is no talk of inviting the United States to keep the Republican Palace as an embassy supplement," al-Yawer said. "We asked that the Republican Palace be vacated in the fastest opportunity. It is a symbol of Iraqi sovereignty."

The imagery of our using Sadaam's Palace for our headquarters sent the

wrong signals.. IMHO... If the Iraqis suspected we came to take their

resources, I felt this location reinforced those suspicions.
