Guest
America is the country that took away retirement funds from its citizens and gave it to big corporations; it is the country where 45 million people live in poverty and lack the most basic rights of health and social care. America, the country that wants to control the world with its military bases, IMF, WTO, and Kofi Annan is the same America that does not dare impose the draft, which practically means supporting an army through conscripts who are in fact the poor citizens striving to make up for deprivation; the result is poor Americans sacrificing their lives on foreign lands while defending the interests of rich Americans. This brings us back to the imperial scheme, called for by the neo-cons, powered by huge corporations, and protected by emergency laws that tied down civil liberties and intimidated political opposition in America. Abroad, Costa Rica informed President Bush that it no longer supports American interference in Iraq after the Costa Rica Supreme Court declared the war illegal. http://english.daralhayat.com/opinion/cont...6368/story.html

CLV4 for Oct 2004 - still the 'current' month according to NYMEX, but termination of trading for the Oct contract is today. NWD
Now why would gold be up on a day the Fed is hiking. unless they are not. Dollar is down ... gold is the anti-dollar. Yield on the dollar, whether 1.50% or 1.75%, is still below inflation and too low to support it. Here's my W.A. guess. I admit I have no evidence to support it. An upward shifting yield curve isn't necessarily wholly bearish for commodities in general or precious metals in particular. To the extent that a hike in the fed funds target is perceived as a harbinger of falling bond prices, it could be bullish for commodities and PMs. Why should bond speculators acquiesce in a "haircut" if they know, or think they know, that it's coming?
