The Walmartization Of The Nation:

Here's a little prediction for you that nobody will believe until it actually happens. J6P will boycott Walmart with the same furvor and conviction of the antiwar protests during the Vietnam War.

Ridiculous, right?

Consider this...

The very same people who are shopping at Walmart are the ones losing their jobs across the country. They are not only supporting the export of their own jobs, they are the direct cause of it.

Remember a time in these United States when the values of the WW II Generation drove the "Made In The USA" campaign, designed to prevent the loss of American jobs to the cheap Japanese imports? This was the beginning of a trend, and unfortunately, the forces allied against it (Protectionism, or Voting With One's Pocketbook) were not more powerful than the forces of Consumerism. It began with cars, then spread to shoes, clothing, and eventually throughout the entire economy right into the service sector.

The logic and the sensibilities of "The Greatest Generation" have given way to the Yuppy Excess of the Baby Boom Generation. By the time Walmart was hitting its' stride, the AARP crowd was happy to accept their Senior's Discount, and buy their trinkets as cheaply as they could...after all - they didn't need to worry about American jobs anymore...they were retired!

This downward death spiral does have an end point, which is now plain to see. Walmart has been too powerful, too efficient, and too much of an opportunist. The recent revelations that they have been hiring illegal aliens, combined with the fact that they have obviously conspired to drive wages down while selling everything at a cost designed to drive all competitors from the marketplace (including preditory gasoline pricing), is having a cumulative effect that will shine a white hot kleig light on them as the posterboy for America's gutted manufacturing sector.

Get ready for news coverage of former factory workers (WMT's best customers) picketing out front of Walmart stores across the country once their hope and their money runs out.

This country has consumed itself to death. Walmart has had a vision to draw lower and middle class Americans to its stores in increasing numbers. Here they come...and boy are they going to be pissed once someone manages to explain it all to them.

The day is coming when WMT will wish they had not attempted to fly so close to the sun.

Plunger

thanks for an exquisitely rendered socio-economic vignette of the future--a portrait like that speaks volumes--

I myself am anticipating the next stage of American Retailing: I intend to open a chain of stores: small to medium sized loaded with evry imaginable retail item--

Only nothing will be for sale--everything will be a waxen effigy ala Madame Tussads;an analog of former market sales champs.

And i'll charge patrons a buck each for half an hour's worth of nostalgic gazing---

Then next to each a Restaurant for the wealthy the tables to be surrounded by a small amphitheatre where the ill fed, new deal, underclassed third will sit and excitedly cheer as each entree is brought in--Scorcards and programs will be sold at the entrance so those impoverished sspectators can identify their favorite viands

Added to the decor will be bars separating the hungry gazers from the gluttonous participants--and the signs, yes the signs:

In center of each table an acknowledged reversal of traditional roles of caged insttitutions, asign stating--

PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE SPECTATORS

YOURS TRULY j litvak beardrech,

HUNGER ARTIST :P  :(

poor Mo-Mo is about to go down in flames...

leveraged up the wazoo and left holding the bag.

poor bastard.

on another note, the jihadi websites have been on fire the last few days.

major chatter about *tuesday*...note the last several attacks have fallen on a tuesday. also, this particular 'Ramadan' contains both a lunar eclipse and a solar eclipse....a very *rare* event on the muslim calendar.

for a bit of history:

According to Islamic theology, a leader called the ?Mahdi? is supposed to rise during a time where Moslems are oppressed all over the world. He will fight these oppressors and create a single, unified, Islamic world state. The Mahdi is, in other words, the Islamic version of the second coming of Christ. This legend is widely believed among Moslems at all the corners of the Earth.

There is a reason why this is suddenly relevant. According to Islamic literature, the Mahdi will rise at a time when both a solar and a lunar eclipse occur during Ramadan. That will occur this year and it will not happen again for, at an absolute minimum, several hundred years. The Lunar Eclipse will fall on November 9th, the Solar Eclipse on November 23rd. During that time, therefore, a massive upsurge in terrorist activity must be anticipated. But it could be much worse than that.

Islamist messages have warned Moslems to leave New York City, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC.

Moreover, they have warned of terrorist attacks when the ?Moon turns red?, an event which will fall this Saturday- November 8th here and November 9th in the Middle East. Interestingly enough, using the method by which the non-American world records dates, November 9th, would also be 9-11.

Islamic prophecy matters not because of its validity, but because of the esteem in which it is held in the Moslem world. Imagine how Christians would behave if events led them to believe that the second coming of Christ had occurred. Now imagine how much of the Moslem would will act if they believe that their divine leader has come.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!
