twignberries
More OpEx BS. OpEx week is like a flash bang granade. A big flash and lots of noise, but in the end, nothing much has changed - except everyone is dazed and confused. Of course, as the dust settles, the special forces will swoop in and take everyone out - but that's next week.

Lock Limit Down
Strong Funds founder to pay 60 million fine. No criminal charges. Again they close their eyes to the criminals looting the system and encourage further abuse. What a pathetic system. Where is the outrage????????????????????????????????????? Captain's Log
On Housing there are bigger implications than the damage rising rates will do. The Bubble has increased the assessed value of homes to record highs which has driven up property taxes which in turn has provided cash starved Cities, Counties, Provinces etc with windfall revenue to keep them afloat. Now when prices fall and assessed values fall so does their tax revenues. That will Bankrupt local Government or reduce services drastically. Garbage pick-up once a month?? Coming to a theatre near you! Brian - you raise a very good point. So far, people are only focusing on the increases they've had to pay. There was an article on PBR this morning about Maine where one couple who'd originally bought their house for $84k was now worth $480K had an property tax of $10K. They were saying they could not afford it and felt they were being forced to sell up. They were forming a political body to cap the amount of increases. Similar problems in Houston were increases are capped at 10%. Mayor wants to limit it to 7%. I wonder if that same law will apply to cap the ammount of decreases. I'd not thought about what happens when assessed value comes down. Couple decreased income stream with increased costs of servicing debt and muni's will be screwed. It's just sitting on its 50 day SMA with zippo volume. Let's huff and puff and see if we can blow it over.
