zensmoke Posted July 9, 2004 Report Share Posted July 9, 2004 Pentagon Says Bush Records of Service Were Destroyed By RALPH BLUMENTHAL Published: July 9, 2004 HOUSTON, July 8 - Military records that could help establish President Bush's whereabouts during his disputed service in the Texas Air National Guard more than 30 years ago have been inadvertently destroyed, according to the Pentagon. It said the payroll records of "numerous service members," including former First Lt. Bush, had been ruined in 1996 and 1997 by the Defense Finance and Accounting Service during a project to salvage deteriorating microfilm. Excluding non-cash earnings from GE's principal pension plans, earnings increased 9%. "Our earnings per share for the second quarter of 38 cents exceeded our previous guidance of 37 cents, as nine of 11 businesses contributed double-digit improvements to earnings and first-half cash from operating activities grew 61% over last year," said GE Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt. "Orders continue to be strong, growing at 13%, with services orders up 29%. Would you expect anything else from the worlds largest financial conglomerate with so many cracks appearing in the dikes? I will save these outlandish claims for reflection and reference in future years.
