The latter half of 2004 will be very interesting IMHO. Worldwide it seems there's muchos heightened anxiety out there. I believe alot of the geopolitical angst centers around Oil and the effect of higher trending and more volatile prices on the world economy.

Audio interview of C. J. Campbell after ASPO conference last May in Berlin. Talks about his proposed Rimini protocol, Shell writedowns, Saudi and Iraq reserve numbers. Transcript (rush)

Fascinating discussion this weekend. Thanks everyone!

P.S. to Doc - this Canadian small 'c' Conservative, er 'left wing fruitcake', is having a b*tch of a time with his vote tomorrow. On the one hand the Liberals deserve to be tossed. Period - full stop. OTOH, don't trust the Conservatives this time around. NDP(socialists)? No fornicating way! Green Party? Mebbe, as an anti-matrix play... Sigh.

Did I mention gun control. The US is the most violent western "democracy" because anyone who wants a handgun can get one.

It's a damn disgrace.

Doc, you can argue this issue just like all other issues from either side, using whatever statistics you wish. It's an emotional issue more than anything else. Here's a statistic -- Violent crime decreases when concealed carry laws are enacted. Make handguns illegal, and you have given the mafia, or whoever another product line. Anyway, the only people that would be effected are the people you don't have to worry about anyway (law abiding citizens). It's the whole "good government" issue all over again -- if you had good people..... The whole handgun paranoia issue is just that. Guns, whether handguns, rifles, or shotguns are not the problem. I love you and this site dearly -- hope B4s previous response to OR re differing opinons applies here.

Brian - I actually do appreciate Martin's fiscal conservatism. Its the party and the corrupting influence of the Liberals being long in power that I have difficulty with. Tossing on principle. As for the Conservatives I'd sure as hell do not want to see 'Neocons North' up here in Canuckistan!? Anyway I believe we're heading for a minority government which may not end up too bad.

This is a great site!

I don't agree with the Liberal anti-Bush agenda. But, I do respect the members and their opinions. Really some interesting posts this weekend on both sides. As it should be.

Now if we can just get the markets to cooperate.

In any case it?s small, and the long and short of it is, they cannot increase their production even if they wanted to.

So the whole Middle East is running at full capacity. That explains why the price of oil is going through the ceiling.

It will be quite interesting to see if in July SA comes up with the increased oil production it promised.

Let's check back in one month to see if the price of oil is less than where it is today. ;)

'Beware Exploding Beer Coolers' - Latest U.S. Terrorist Warning

By Mark Sage, PA News, in New York

Security officials warned today of a possible new weapon in the terrorist arsenal ? booby-trapped beer coolers.

Law-enforcement officials in the US have been warned to be on the look out for the enticing bombs.

It is feared that an eager beer-lover could find one of the home-made bombs and open it, to an almost certain death.

The warning was sent to 18,000 law-enforcement groups by the FBI last week, Time magazine reported.

Oh, and I am really a down to earth type. Right now I have 5 veggie gardens. Do my own canning and freezing. I hunt & fish and butcher & clean my own game. Have raise chickens, ducks & turkeys in the past, Ugh! I make all my own sausages smoked, pepperoni, keilbasa, hot Italian & sweet Italian.

Right now I am starting a new business refurbishing telecom equipment, which is what my old company did. But for the past 4 years I have been semi-retired abideing to a no-compete clause.

And I do hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

Sled,

I'm with you, but

They have really F***ked this up -- you need to be able to believe what you are being told -- not. The war on terror including Iraq and Afganistan is not going well, and the premise for being there (Iraq specifically) is being questioned -- and probably rightly so. It's almost a case of "You're damned if you do and you're

damned if you don't" -- the problem is we don't have any idea (and never will) of what's really going on. The fiscal irresponsibility is a travesty, but understandable -- an attempt to delay HyperTiger's implosion -- what the hell else could they really do?? Can anybody else (Kerry) really come up with a better plan????? If so, I'd be with them 1,000% -- my opionion is that Kerry isn't any better, just an opportunist.
