machinehead
"Spot of tea, Sirs?" interrupts a bow-tied servant, his PhD in economics in awe of the congregation of power standing before him. Ben waits for Al's nod before adding his own "Yes, please, and I'll have one of the scones with fresh cream, too." "By the way ... what ARE we having for lunch? It seems to me that the risks are tilted toward an increase in hunger during the midday period." "Heh, heh. You'll get a paunch that way, Ben," winks Al. "Hazard of the profession." getsoutalive
Anyone read George Ure's site (urbansurvival.com) this morning? Seems his "webbots" are thinking that not only did Iraq NOT have WMD......they may also NOT have nearly the size of oil reserves that were previously thought. Interesting to say the least, if this actually turns out to be the case.
Guest Icky Twerp
Dell Options Not Expensed Options would have eaten into profits Dell, the world's second-biggest maker of personal computers, said second-quarter profits would have been reduced by a third if the company had treated stock options as an expense. Net income would have been $414 million in the quarter that ended Aug. 1, instead of the reported $621 million, according to Dell's quarterly report to the Securities and Exchange Commission. Earnings in the second quarter of 2002 would have been $320 million, down 36 percent from the reported amount of $501 million, the company said. The Financial Accounting Standards Board, which sets U.S. accounting rules, is moving closer to requiring companies to treat stock options as an expense. Some companies, such as Dell, have opposed that practice.
