Hiding Bear
Welcome to B4 The Bell! Florida Examines Higher Insurance Deductibles By JOSEPH B. TREASTER Published: September 16, 2004 MIAMI, Sept. 15 - Twelve years ago when Hurricane Andrew pummeled South Florida, 11 small insurance companies went out of business and the giants in home insurance, State Farm and Allstate, were staggered. But industry anal cysts say that is not going to happen this year, even though not one, but two, hurricanes have torn up thousands of houses and businesses across the state and a third, Hurricane Ivan, was expected to affect the Florida Panhandle late Wednesday or early Thursday. The insurance companies are expected to do fine, industry experts said, because the insurers, with the approval of Florida officials, have cut back on hurricane coverage, shifting much of the initial cost of repairs and reconstruction to the people who suffered the damage. The insurers argued that they could not stay in business without such measures. But now Gov. Jeb Bush and Tom Gallagher, the head of the state's Department of Financial Services, are suggesting that the companies have gone too far. The governor and Mr. Gallagher are focusing on sharply increased deductibles that force homeowners to pay thousands of dollars for repairs before their insurance kicks in. http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/16/business/16insure.html Good Trading! DrStool
Sleddog- The right wing has elevated lies and character assassination to a high art. They learned their lessons from Goebbels well. Their campaign of character assassination against Kerry is textbook Nazism. Like the Nazis they cloak their crimes in the veneer of patriotism, when their sole goal is absolute control of the state for the purpose of their evil imperial vision. When they point to the evil ones, they are only projecting themselves. We, and the world, are paying a horrible, deadly price for their acts, one that will only grow. With regard to the stories of Bush's irresponsible behavior in his youth, they have been around since time immemorial. They clearly fit what we know about his past, including the illegal sale of his Harken Energy stock, and his present, the overreaching pathological lying that led us to the catastrophe we now are dealing with in Iraq. Where there's smoke, there's fire. The US adminstration is moving in the same direction as Putin, only more slowly, stealthily. Their goal is the consolidation of absolute power. And the American people, like the Russians, acquiesce willingly. By the time they wake up to their loss of freedom, it will be too late. It may already be too late. The genie is out of the bottle. We face a horrific future because of the irresponsible, irrational decisions of the madmen in control. If there is a God, may she have mercy on us. twignberries
OMG, huffing booze? Who funded this thing? I have a few "ideas" I would like to fund. WHITE PLAINS, New York -- These are not good days for the people who are trying to sell New York on a machine that lets you inhale a martini instead of drinking it. First, they had to use fruit juice rather than alcohol at the big debut at a Manhattan nightspot. Then, officials in two suburban counties announced they would try to ban it. But worst of all, the first bar to buy the machine has sent it back, disappointed by the lack of a "buzz." I bet contact cement would give a better buzz than fruit juice. "It's a fun new way for adults to enjoy alcohol in a responsible manner," said Morse. Ha ha ha ha!!! - Oh man, where do they find these people.
