buttugly
If you think it's amazing the number of H2s what about the 2003 Range Rovers - sticker price around $71k. Meantime commercial office vacancy rate in the Bay area is 20% up from 3% over 3 years And the 20% doesn't include all the space that can't be put on the market yet. Who needs a job or an office when we have zero rate finance.
richmtn
A fabulous read Mark. Was it just last night you were saying you are running out of material? No need for completely original material every night anyway. Stuff as good as yours gets funnier with each little twist and turn. Besides with this world and this market something is bound to happen that will open whole new areas of amusement and education.
Nanobody
I *think* I've'got it', at last... Japan's housing mkt bubble imploded and their stock mkt took a massive hit... yet the EOTWAJKI (End Of The World As Japanese Know It) did not materialise. I'll sleep more soundly in my bunker tonight. Regards, Nano.
chibear
A masterpiece, Mark. Thanks. I thought you said the creative juices were running low. OT question: your car photos are beautiful. Did you take them yourself? If so, using what camera?

crooked_analyst
Mark....in a few words, "BRAVO"..."ENCORE"! You scared us last night - but then in the last forty five minutes of trading, you rallied for a MASTERPIECE! Thanks!
Dustbowl
Krudlow just nailed it!! When we rebuild Iraq, we have to build their internet and this will lead to a new tech stock rebound. Krudlow is an intellectual genius. Dan Niles agreed which could be the kiss of death though. I think Krudlow just might be the beast. Creamer is just the court jester. buttugly
Nano good point: "Today Japan is a peaceful nation whose populace enjoys one of the world's highest living standards even as they are cursed with one of the world's worst democratic governments ......... Sure it's economy is a basket case, but exactly what does that mean? Japanese unemployment is at a record level: 5.7%. ........ Japanese companies are still leaders in their fields: Sony, Nintendo, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, and Mitsubishi are in better shape than many of their American and European competitors. The Japanese stock market is worth less than a quarter of its 1990 high - but most Japanese view the Nikkei in the same way Americans view betting on NCAA basketball". Yep, we will probably be alright - but the market will be toast.
Pee Brain
debt increases at all levels of our society: just heard on the radio that CA will be floating bonds to pay penion benefits. seems during the boom, gov. davis pushed thru pension benefits after 30 years for policeman, fireman, prison guards, etc. (some of largest campaign contributors) that equate to 90% of their WORKING salary. who is gonna be a policement for 100% of "X", when they can sit home and get 90% of "X". guess what; people started retiring and now CA needs to borrow to pay benefits. gets worse: seems municipalities followed suit in order to be competitive in attracting applicants. as more and more folks retire and the debt and interest is piled on top of more debt via COLAs and greater retirements... you get the picture. appx 10% of CA residents pay 80% of the taxes, which means that 90% of the population can increase the other 10%'s taxes - except the 10% will start to leave CA to its entitlements. time to raise the taxes on cigarettes again. LOL!
martialcomp
Couldn't agree more Mark. I have very specific names for men who buy those H2's...cannot repeat it here. A friend of my sister paid $50.00 just to fill the tank in his Mitsubishi Montero. Not sure where everyone is getting the cash to fill these thirsty, wallet emptying V8 trucks. Imagine these people buying a giant truck and then not be able to afford the gasoline and (later on) the tires. $200 a month in fuel is ridiculous, but, here in SD they are doing it. Every day I see giant SUV's and Ford F250 V10's being driven to San Diego to work.
3Martinis
Nano *hic* ..methinks the Japanese were a net creditor nation (confirmation ?) and the citizens had, and have, an exemplary savings record..... ie: they had a cushy cushion .... hmmmm.... 1 part sake, 2 parts stoli, garnish with a perfect slice of tuna..... sushi martini ? .....Must *hic* investigate..... chibear
....Aren't we getting tired of a society where even after you carefully read the fine print, it's still hard to figure out what the scam is? I'm still chuckling over that line. How very true. Or maybe I'm just getting older. (Well, that's true too.)
seamus
From what I heard, it sounded as if Niles wanted to come across as more bearish than Beavis and Butthead would let him. He finally relented with st bear, lt bull. But, those 2 clowns should be shot for the way they carry on. Re: Commercial space..speaking with a contact the other day who has over 25 years in the development biz, said he has not seen it this bad ever. On The Beach
On tonight's Huckster, Inc. puke-fest, Dan Niles, Huckster Inc's 'resident expert' actually said (in addition to calling a 12th 'tech bottom/2nd half recovery/buyandhold...NOW' and other words of wisdom): 'On the other side of the War - Dell will be our'....yada,yada, yada . ON-THE-OTHER-SIDE-OF-THE-WAR. So.....never mind the lambs in uniform and civilians in Iraq that may be sacrificed DURING a War. What a presumptuous, condescending, dispassionate, naive assertion. The bubble psychology reaches new rhetorical lows. At this rate, they won't last long.
