Guest
At 20 posts per page, when you refresh, especially if you are writing a post, you are going to miss the last couple posts on the previous page when the posts are coming fast and furious. When things slow down, you may wish to go back to see what you missed. Doc, I've seen you state this several times. It's not true (except for the "last 10 posts" you see while entering a post). When you're just reading the forum (not trying to post) and many new posts come before you hit refresh, you won't lose anything - you'll still be looking at the last post you were reading. There might be 1 or more new pages of posts, yes - but you'll be on the page you were reading before you hit refresh. If this doesn't work, access to this thread will be limited to registered board users. That means non-registered users will be unable to see the thread. Are there really so many non-registered users ("guests") for this measure to be worthwhile? I really don't understand why people don't register. It's free and if you don't want other board members to see whether you're currently logged in, you can always log in anonymously. I have also set the board so that if we do begin to overload the server, it will temporarily block access when the load begins to spike. How about a cute red "CURBS IN" sign? Hopefully these steps prevent us from getting any more death threats from the webhost, and will enable the IDS forum to stay free. Why are you hosting the site elsewhere? I mean - why not host it on a computer you own in your house? Then the only problem would be bandwidth of the communication line; not host overloads. Computers aren't that expensive nowadays - if money for the hardware is the problem, perhaps we could do something about it? SG must get back to a centered life and away from the markets awhile. Blown out last several days, up 22% still from Dec 2 high, but not the 58% I was up. I need karma and ever since I got the SG Waves forum, I lost it... 27.43 the new fibo target now... Good luck in all your endeavors, I will visit again down the road. May you go in peace and your family be well.
