DrStool
A 6% move week to week is not that big in this index. It's within the noise range.
Guest
So the Feds did a deal with Gates...do a massive buy-back and we'll drop the litigation. How many other major companies are either overtly or covertly in some type of hot water with the Feds? Corporations are purportedly flush with cash. Top executives have as much incentive as anyone to jack up their own stock prices. Softie will show the way to riches by offering to buy back vast amounts of its own stock and offering a major dividend. With MSFT as the lead sled dog, assume we will see a wave of announcements from other major corporations to do the same. As Doc says, it's all about liquidity, and if these corporations are about to dump their cash into their own stock for a short term gain to enrich themselves and get Shrub re-elected, the script is written for a final liquidity blast through the erection, and then all bets are off. Notice how they caught Sandy Berger...advisor to Kerry...stealing documents from the National Archive several months ago, yet didn't announce it until the week prior to the Democratic Convention. Last night, Trent Lott was on TV claiming the possibility of a "Nexus" between these stolen 9/11 documents and comments recently made by Kerry in stump speeches...as if to imply that Berger made Classified Documents available to the Kerry Camp. The Dirty Tricks are just beginning.
rog
Steel, lead and copper trading in Shanghai at a substantial discount to world benchmark prices for about a week now. Strong evidence of a slowdown in the Chinese economy. More importantly it seems that the funds that were pouring into these commodities because of the "insatiable Chinese demand" are trapped. I mentioned yesterday prior to the open to watch Phelps Dodge (PD) to see the direction of Commods. It was at resistance and it tanked right out of the gate. FCX got hammered on the open yesterday but rebounded, and may be set up to collapse from here.

Guest
Beyond the immediacy of the Microsoft deal/announcment, I see a downturn in MS future sales & services domestically and internationally.

brian4
Good Morning Crew- The Microsoft deal was well expected and they played out the script beautifully. All the creatures on Schlock Box have been bullhorning all morning. Should be a gap open and I'm looking for a burnout and reversal off 10,200,1113-14 and 1113 to 1117. Resistance is very strong at those points. We have not yet seen the low for this move. The Pig flies alone at the open-Buckle up!
