Bizarro-Greenspan
Sales promo or rational concerns? You make the call,I made mine on 09/12/01, "Under fire, neoconservatives out of government are regrouping. This summer saw the rebirth of the Committee on the Present Danger--the third incarnation of a group first launched in the 1950s and restarted in the 1970s to promote a hard line against Soviet communism. Norman Podhoretz, one of the movement's leading thinkers, laments the darkening mood of "gloom and doom," in particular the "newborn pessimism among supporters" of the Iraq war. "Things have gone not badly, not disastrously, but triumphantly," he declared at the group's inaugural conference last month. The group posits that the United States now faces another existential threat and has dubbed the struggle "World War IV," the Cold War being World War III. The group's chairman, former CIA Director James Woolsey, says its rebirth recognizes that "people are to some extent choosing up sides. . . . Get the job done or go back to the '90s" --before 9/11 and Bush's pre-emption doctrine. "A number of critics have a nostalgia for an earlier era," he warns. But with a toxic mix of Arab and Islamist totalitarianism, weapons of mass destruction, and terrorists, he says, "those days are gone with the wind." These people are treasonous, fearmongering scum who really should get a real job.

wndysrf
Pee Brain: I just finished riding the motorcycle around the Hill Section in Manhattan Beach. Unbelievable amount of spec homes going up, all financed by Vineyard National Bank. Took lots of pictures. Will be posting them on realestatebubblewatch.com tonight, maybe. My handle over there is LAHomeflipper............. I'm going to ride up there every two weeks or so to monitor construction progress, number of homes for sale, etc.
Guest libertas
B.S.-that 35 year old snot nosed punk should spend a week crapping his pants in Iraq then his tune would really change. On another note just read an article that stated..."43% of the 137,000 U.S. Troops in Iraq are Reserve and National Guard Troops." Now that is scraping the bottom of the Barrel. Often forgotten is the fact that Iraq's population is slightly larger than Canada's there is no freaking way it can be pacified by 137,000 Troops plus a handful from the "Coalition of the wilting." Today is another very bad day in Iraq it is so damn Sad! Maybe the Pentagon should send some of its 200,000 procurement specialists. They have more folks spending money than they have Marines. "Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld has opposed the services' requests for military personnel increases, arguing that they could gain additional combat power by reducing support structure and shifting personnel to fighting units. "There is validity in looking at the tooth-to-tail ratio, in getting more capability with less bureaucracy," Hunter agreed. He noted that for years he has sponsored defense authorization amendments requiring yearly cuts of 25,000 procurement workers. Those amendments cut the workforce from "more than 300,000 professional shoppers" when he started, to less than 200,000." wndysrf
Brian4: We'll have to keep an eye on these two to determine how the trannies will act. ODFL and JBHT are either ready to fail from triple tops, or they are going to break out. I'm kind of worried that any slight selloff in crude might cause a breakout. If crude continues rocking up to $60 as shorty expects, then we'll have a breakdown for sure...........

wndysrf
Closeup of JBHT. Got slammed hard on Wednesday. Opened at the lows Friday, and went straight up. This is either a "shakeout", meaning the stock is going to break out, or Friday's action was a "squeeze job", and it will collapse next week.... Brisbane Bear
I thought this was amusing..... Thus the president's dilemma: The right plan doesn't guarantee a good outcome. He speaks of the war in optimistic terms, but as The Economist's "Lexington" observes, "the more Mr. Bush repeats his mantra about the march of liberty, the more he risks sounding like a Texan version of `Comical Ali,' the Iraqi propaganda minister who declared that the infidel dogs were in retreat even as American troops rolled into Baghdad." http://www.charlotte.com/mld/observer/news.../9923614.htm?1c

What I don't get is that Jb hunt's largest customer is Walmart yet when you put the two stock patterns side by side it just doesn't make sense. They are total opposites. machinehead
"43% of the 137,000 U.S. Troops in Iraq are Reserve and National Guard Troops." This is the inconvenient FACT which proves that both Depublicrat candidates are liars. You CANNOT run a long-term overseas occupation with 43% reservists (and rising). And France and Germany are NOT going to come running to the rescue. "Look, Jeeem ... it's the Red Croissant wagon!" Either you bring ALL the troops home from the hopeless quagmire in Iraq, NOW ... or you introduce a military draft on Jan. 21, 2005, the day after the inauguration. There is no "muddle through," "gentleman's C" option, as "legacy admission" Bush learnt to expect at Yale and Hahvid. Anybody who tells you differently is a liar and a collaborator. Unfortunately the Depublicrats probably have other plans for us ... creating a cause celebre which will unify everyone behind a draft overnight ... and nullify their campaign promises. "That was before [fill in barbaric outrage here] happened."
