Synopsis: Based on a true story, ZULU recounts the siege of Rorke?s Drift in Natal, Africa on January 22, 1879. Stanley Baker stars as Lt. John Chard, Head of the small British garrison of 150 men. He is determined to stand his ground against the army of 4000 Zulu warriors closing in on them, despite the advice of missionaries and the other officers in his command. His chief officer, Michael Caine puts together the strategy to defend the fort. Filmed in the grand scale of historical epics such as ?Lawrence of Arabia? and ?Gunga Din?, ZULU is an exciting and moving tale of honor and valor among men . . .

This is simply one of the very best movies I've seen in my entire life. It held me spellbound from beginning to end. AMC is Cablevision channel 43 in the NYC area.

Among the more memorable quotes from the movie:

The army doesn't like more than one disaster in a day. (Chard)

Looks bad in the newspapers and upsets civilians at their breakfast. (Bromhead)

The British invaded to colonize and steal land. They ended up installing apartheid.

They were horrendous colonialists. At least we are selective (and diversified) about only going after oil fields (which we need) and space (which may have more oil) :P
