Tzu wanted to know about a Zinc stocks. LMC is one.

Thanks. Interesting. New ipo at that. I guess that large selling hopefully took care of the distribution. No info really ta wise. I wouldn't call that broken trend line really bearish I guess since there is so little info. Looks good over 38 imo. then sell half at highs maybe?

I'd like to look into thee over the holidays. Hopefully some others here that are good with funamentals can help.

For anyone who cares, some guy keeps track of Krammer's reco's every day.

For the record, Krammer has made 607 reco's since 1/1/06. 389 of them have been winners (64%). 214 have been losers (35%). 4 have been unchanged (1%).

Sounds pretty good on paper except, of course, most stocks are up this year. So a dart board would likely be around the same win pct.

Also, the guy's methodology is a bit suspect since he triggers the "buy" on the close of the day Krammer recommends the stock as opposed to on the next open when Krammer's reco's often get a little bump.

Even though Krammer is hitting 65% winners this year, his performance is not much to write home about:

Krammer +9.66%

Russell 2000 +17.16%

Sow Jones +15.59%

Russell 3000 +14.07%

SPX +13.52%

Nardsaq +9.90%

Also, Krammer's picks have gotten a +0.42% bump on the first day of trading, which brings his YTD performance down to +9.24% if you bought at the close of the day following his reco.

I've seen worse underperformance, but this is rather weak given how much press the guy gets.

If you bought the Spooz on 1/1/06, you'd be up 13+% on the year with one $9.99 transaction fee. If you followed Krammer, you'd be up +9% with between 607 and 1214 transaction fees (depending on how many you sold during the year.)

More exciting to play along with Krammer. But not too profitable as it turns out.

Oh well. Guess that's show biz.

Should also be noted that Krammer doesn't reco short positions. So if he is badly underperforming during a bull run, imagine how his flock would fare in a bear phase.

Lee Wee, check out IAU. I don't see it mentioned here for some reason. Check out the volume.

IAU and GLD are essentially the same thing.

The gold proxies (and gold itself) have basically followed the rising 50wkMA up for the past six years. They haven't traded much below that line. Right now, the 50wkMA on GOLD itself is 607.79. It got down to 615 earlier this week.

Pretty straightforward setup. A move below 607 is a caution. A move below 578 or so is a bigger caution. That would then bring into play the rough uptrend line over the past five years at about 510 right now.

On the proxies, those levels are 60.40ish, 56.75ish and 50ish.

I don't see gold as either bullish or bearish right now. It's hanging in there. Except for a few weeks around May, gold has traded mostly in the 575-675 zone.

The ideal time to buy would be when the l/t trendline meets the 50wkMA preferably at the 578ish zone. That would be a trifecta. Can't imagine the market will be so accomodative. But if it happens, it would take another 6-9 months or so.

As far as the gold stocks go, the GDX has basically been treading water b/w 33-42 most of the year, except for a brief moonshot in May and a couple of stabs lower in Jun and Oct. The gold stocks tend to run with the broader market.

Interesting setups coming on the goldies. But no signals yet. As Wndy says, quite a few goldies are marking time right now, not really going up, not going down. Guess they're waiting for something to happen with the gold chart, as many folks are.

Thanks LW, I was wondering what the difference was. Apparently the currency etfs have a ways to go before they are launched. Just imagine the new hedging techniques.

I wonder if they can even design things where you can borrow in etf yen and bust out some carry trade action? Who knows now days. Maybe in the end we will end up with no volatility since the hedges wound up so many things so tight both ways they would get stuck....somehow.

Check out this inside photo of the house I bought. Great stuff. I am afraid that one of the ole neighbors called the fire dept on me yesterday for me getting a little over the top on things to burn. Like carpet. The fire dept laughed and said they do it all day long. They said no carpet etc. I was lucky to have the last of the carpet burning up when they got there.

Luckily I saved myself 4 loads to the dump at least. I cleaned out the entire house and massive yard damage and will now be starting on the wood floors pretty quick with the stipper. No money has really even been spent yet besides gas etc. I had to use the tractor to hedge hog the back yard it was so bad.

Here is why I cut out the middle man and burned everything. It was bad.
