Seven dead after Afghan governor ousted

Sun 12 September, 2004 20:54

By Saeed Haqiqi and Sayed Salahuddin

HERAT, Afghanistan (Reuters) - Up to seven supporters of an ousted Afghan governor have been killed and 20 wounded in clashes with police and U.S. troops in the western city of Herat, which has been placed under night curfew.

The curfew order on Sunday from the city's army commander came after hundreds of supporters of Ismail Khan, sacked by President Hamid Karzai on Saturday as part of his election pledge to rein in warlords, burned and looted U.N. offices and set fire to the Pakistani consulate.

Doctors said up to seven of Khan's supporters were killed and 50 wounded in clashes with police, soldiers and U.S. troops trying to restore order, less than a month before Afghanistan's first presidential elections on Oct 9.

The SPX to VIX Ratio has risen to 81.74, one of the highest readings over the past six years. Only once - in 2000 - has it been higher. In 2004, each time it exceeded 80.00, the market topped and a short-term decline immediately ensued. This fits our Fibonacci turn date analysis and supports our Elliott Wave counts. Any more rally over the next two days could push this indicator to heights that demand caution.

That's right Gretchen, proud to be ignorant!!

Gretchen Wilson Video

When I first saw this video and she sang about beer,

red necks, and she stripped I knew this was a hit. She

went straight to the head of the line. No waiting.

My British born step daughter who is educated and has

traveled the world moved to Nashvill for the money and the fun.

She's a bartender.

Oh - Mars - Don't feel bad. I've been dissed on much

better boards than this :P and kicked of the best!

U.S. Gunship Fires on Crowd
Earlier, the U.S. military had said a helicopter destroyed the vehicle "to prevent looting and harm to the Iraqi people" after four U.S. soldiers were lightly wounded in the attack on the Bradley.

http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml;j...36&pageNumber=1

Our news(NL) reported that incidnt with the comment that the heli gunship fired on the vehicle to prevent it being "appropriated" by the "insurgents".

Live tv of the tv camera man being killed as he filmed. Not that you could see much more than pandemonium as the gunship opened fire, people running, camera wobbling and blood spatters on the lens!

Really winning the hearts and minds out there it appears.

This NK mushroom cloud thing really stinks-not a peep after the initial burst of stories nada, zip, zilch. The deathly quiet particularily of the Chinese whose territory is within spitting distance of the area is ominous-something heavy did indeed go down and is being nicely covered up but "WHY"! ;)

Why?

Because China, Russia and the United States just cooperated on the bombing of North Korea!

They obviously told the little pin-head dictator that this was just the opening salvo, and if he did anything other than keep his mouth shut and do exactly as this new triad says, he'll be dead faster than you can say "Rambo."

How does a bomber slip into North Korea undetected?

STEALTH

What device is capable of causing a non-nuclear mushroom cloud?

MOAB

These are the only answers that make any sense. The silence of China and Russia and the full control of the media on this subject in concert with the ridiculous explanations given seem to make this explanation a slam dunk. Nobody wants that lunatic to have the bomb, least of all his closest neighbors. Odds are we actually did it at China's request.

I have a feeling that our military is holding back and trying just to contain as much as they can until after the election. Then all hell will be let loose on the Iraqis.... errr... I mean insurgents. Anyone that gets in the way - women and children included - is toast.

To do it before the election would be political suicide as the death toll will be high.

Broadcom lowers 3rd-qtr revenue view

Sun Sep 12, 2004 08:18 PM ET

PHILADELPHIA, Sept 12 (Reuters) - Media and communications chip maker Broadcom Corp. (BRCM.O: Quote, Profile, Research) lowered its third quarter revenue expectations on Sunday to account for delayed customer orders, and said its inventory levels would drop as compared to the previous quarter.

Broadcom estimated its revenue would be flat or slightly higher than the $641 million it reported in the second quarter, a step down from the 5 percent to 6 percent gain it had earlier predicted.
