Guest
Can an economy last long based purely on financial speculation? The greenman tells us yes. We are all going to get rich trading increasingly larger piles of paper IOU's.

Guest yobob1
Thousands Apply for California Port Jobs LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Hundreds of thousands of applicants are competing for 3,000 temporary jobs at the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, hoping for lucrative wages in an otherwise weak labor market. The jobs, which pay $20 to $28 an hour, were created to handle a record amount of cargo coming through both ports. A Long Beach post office spokesman said Tuesday that a conservative estimate put the number of mailed-in applications at 220,000 to 250,000. The number may have been inflated by applicants sending in more than one each, though officials have said people who do so would be rejected. Yes sir the jobs market is strong and getting stronger. No wait that's the stench of a dying economy that's strong and getting stronger.
Pee Brain
lets do the math, shall we? from http://melduke.blogspot.com/ The International Energy Agency stated that rising crude demand has left OPEC countries with "effective" spare oil-production capacity of 500,000 barrels a day. The U.S. will eat up that spare capacity by simply filling the Strategic Oil Reserve to the brim. Bush will make certain it happens. He wants to keep his "base" happy. In addition, when figuring world daily production, it might be wise to count Venezuela?s at 2.5 million barrels per day rather than the reported 3.1 million barrels a day. 500,000 spare capacity offset by 600,000 overstatement of production.... lest do the math
