It is the "life-long" Democrats (and Republicans) whose votes are wasted, because they are taken for granted by the respective parties. The parties are in rough balance and so to win they need to attract voters who are not committed to either party. That means, inter alia, Libertarians and Naderites. So anyone who votes Libertarian or Naderite has a disproportionate influence, because they show the major parties a countable pool of voters who have some pretty specific principles in mind (in both cases). The major parties can then shape their message and policies to attract those pools. The lifelong supporters have no practical influence because they will not change, regardless. Which is sad. But they are free to be taken for granted and waste their influence.

CRB - In spite of high oil and relatively stable PM. PMs should begin to get active again soon.

It's becoming clear that the war in Vietnam is going to be the decisive issue for the 2004 election.

Way to go, Boomers.

Don't get me started on the boomers, whose predilection for the works of Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton's "Unplugged" is somehow supposed to excuse all manner of excesses, infrations, moral and political sloth...

I will be understanding when Gen X/Y offers "compensated euthanasia" for over-65s in the 2012 election platform.

Soylent green ... do it for your country ... :o

Had an order in to buy STRA aug 95 puts @ 2.40 when they were at 2.20. Order didn't go through as they immediately jumped the bid up. Now at 2.70 bid 3.50 ask.

The scariest is watching the Gen-Xers I know trying to raise kids. Discpline seems to have been replaced by negotiation, which isn't a strong suit for most 2 and 3 year olds. Man, time for a folic acid supplement...

It's a good thing that we all know that everyone in the same generation thinks and behaves the exact same way. Otherwise intergenerational sniping would be no fun at all.

Schaeffer in his morning letter points out that the 21 day m/a on the equity p/c ratio has now dropped for 5 consecutive sessions to a low of 0.67. The Bullz are all on the same side of the boat-I luuuuvvvv it! ;)
