Guest
U.S. Marines in a fierce battle for this Sunni Muslim stronghold fired rockets that hit a mosque filled with people Wednesday, and witnesses said as many as 40 people were killed. Rock the casbah What better way to recruit martyrs? Rationality will be out the window now. This provocation has neocon fingerprints all over it ... Neocons have been trying to turn this into a massive religious war from day one. They will succeed and then we are going to get our ass kicked. zensmoke
DJ US Denies Reports Americans Held By Iraq's Al-Sadr-MSNBC NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--The Pentagon Wednesday denied reports made by an Iraqi militia that some U.S. military forces had been kidnapped by its forces, MSNBC reported. The Pentagon did confirm, however, that New York Times reporter John Burns and a photographer were held briefly and then released by the Mehdi Army militia, loyal to Iraqi cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, MSNBC reported. The militia had earlier claimed to have captured an unspecified number of coalition troops south of Baghdad. The Times had reported that a number of its Baghdad staff were held by al-Sadr's forces for nearly eight hours but were release unharmed. The staff consisted of a reporter, a photographer, drivers, security guards and an interpreter, the Times reported. Dow Jones Newswires

zensmoke
=WSJ.COM: IBM Plans To Acquire Indian Call-Center Firm>IBM THE WALL STREET JOURNAL ONLINE NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) announced plans to acquire one of India's biggest call-center firms. Terms weren't disclosed. The purchase of Daksh eServices, which has 6,000 employees, would be finalized in May, subject to approvals from Indian authorities. Indian outsourcing firms such as Daksh are known for a business model built on low wages and operating costs. IBM, of Armonk, N.Y., and other U.S. companies have opened Indian operations in recent years to provide outsourced software development and back-office services to their clients worldwide. India is the most attractive destination for multinational companies looking to transfer office jobs overseas in search of higher profits, with China in the No. 2 spot, according to a study published last week. The report, prepared by U.S. business consultancy A.T. Kearney, revealed plenty of other dramatic shifts in its list of the top dozen country magnets for service-sector jobs, which increasingly are being offshored from higher-cost environments in developed economies. -For continuously updated news from The Wall Street Journal, see WSJ.com at http://wsj.com.
