Guest
3:30PM: With half an hour of trade remaining, the market continues to tank on the heels of a Reuters report that an Al Qaeda letter claims this morning's bombings in Spain, according to the London Al-Quds Al-Arabi Paper... The blue-chip averages - currently at new session lows - are underperforming the Nasdaq on a relative basis and are spearheading the decline, with losses of 1.0%... In the Dow, 19 of its 30 components are in the red, with laggards of note including Coca-Cola (KO 48.56 -1.34), Altria (MO 57.25 -1.19), and General Motors (GM 45.05 -1.03)... GM is lower on the heels of a Wall Street Journal report indicating that the company will soon report that its future health-care liabilities for retirees have surpassed $60 bln (for more thoughts on GM, please see the Story Stock page)... NYSE Adv/Dec 1221/2047, Nasdaq Adv/Dec 1295/1853 ... from briefing.com Also, Gold and Silver have both moved up on that news. France has raised its terror alert. Reports say all of Europe is frightened. I guess Spain is not going to be one of the greatest places to retire, eh? Sherlock

And at the very same time, Koizumi-sori shows up starring in his very own Crapvision commercial, "Come, Invest In Japan". Change in policy? Perhaps "Retired Emperor" has decided to pull the election year rug out from the Boy Emperor of NichiBei. With BoJ/MoF financial leverage, Japan Gov't could decide who gets to be President of the USA...
