Guest
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Second Chance Prison Canine Organization, a volunteer group from Tucson, Arizona runs an unusual clicker training program in a nearby prison. Recently twelve prisoners and six dogs from a nearby animal shelter were selected for a year-long training program. Each dog lives in a cell with its two trainers, who are responsible for the dog's round the clock care. After training the dogs will be placed with people with disabilities . . . . . . Founder Gayle Woods is talking with state officials about starting the program at the state prison on Tucson's Southeast Side, perhaps later this year. Second Chance, Woods said, is all about transformation. "Not only do these men transform the lives of these dogs," she said, "they transform their own lives." Comments about the Animal Planet series A hundred prisons in the country now have these programs and typically the dogs chosen to participate are dogs which had been neglected, abandoned or abused, and which could not be adopted because they could not be trusted to behave properly, and are on Death Row at the animal shelters as a result. And the prisoners know they would be sent back and euthanized if they could not be re-trained. A triple win situation here - for the dogs, for the prisoners and for society. FauxCaster
But is the OTC derivatives market closed? I really need to off-load a couple billion in liabilities to some unsuspecting pension fund.
Guest
" . . . Living proof of how powerful love and attention can be." What the prisoners do for these cell dogs and what the dogs do for these hardened convicts is nothing short of AWESOME, with tonight's Warm Springs episode featuring three five-week old and five four-day old puppies, all abandoned, entrusted to two of the men. The prison system should have implemented this a long time ago, but better late than never. Take some time off to see this, it is a very humanizing experience. The episode repeats three more times, starting tonight, as follows: January 19: 11:00PM January 20: 3:00AM January 25: 5:00PM
