Charvo
Anyone taking into account the 401k contributions going into the market at the beginning of the month? There has been an upward bias for April, May, June, and July at least for around 3-4 trading days into the month. Considering the treasury sector has gotten whacked the last month, there may be even a greater allocation to stocks for this month especially if 401k investor has pulled up the quotes for treasury funds. chiefywiefy
One out of 10 jobs in the US computer services and software industry could shift to lower-cost emerging markets such as India or Russia by the end of 2004, a top computer consultancy said on Tuesday. Gartner Inc, the world's biggest hi-tech forecasting firm, said in a report entitled "US Offshore Outsourcing: Structural Changes, Big Impact" that 500,000 of the 10.3 million US technology jobs could move just in 2003 and 2004. http://www.hindustantimes.com/2003/Jul/30/...324376,0003.htm Why is it when blue collar or union jobs are lost to foriegners it's no big deal, but white collar jobs suffering the same fate it's a catastrophe? Hiding Bear
The stock market is falsely assumed to be a discounting mechanism. It is not. It is simply a liquidity meter. ! Hard to add to that. Wall Steet likes to ignore risk premiums. The risk premium for dumb and dumber, Fannie and Freddie, has only begun to rise. Unfortunately for them, if they had to issue debt securities based on their real risk premiums, their over extended balance sheets would collapse. I see another real or imagined Greenspan/Berhanke put coming here. Of course, that won't reverse the collapse in new mortgages/refis - and liquidity.
