Sadly, it still happens in Europe from time to time. Often the rivalery of fans of clubs is along a political cleavage. In Rome it is AS Roma is left wing, Lazio Roma is right wing. In fact, I have one across the street from my front door. And every restaurant that isn't Asian sells pizza.
