A tedious day of going pretty much nowhere: All Ords closed +0.4% with sectors ranging from Healthcare +1.8% down to Energy/Miners -0.5%.

Nothing too startling happening in Asia: China flat, Hong Kong -0.4%, Japan +0.8%, India currently +0.6%.

UK/Europe doing an extravagant leap out of the starting gate: FTSE +1.6%, DAX +0.7%, CAC +1.3%.

as for transfer of technology, it goes far back. when i was studying control theory 30 years ago the class was swamped with Chinamen.

Same here in Germany. Lots of Chinese in the 90s at university, they didn‘t talk to anybody except their own countryman.

Wall Street is conditioning investors to take this kind of carnage in stride so that they don't sell out. The dealers need buyers to take their bloated, overpriced inventory off their hands, and so that they can build short inventory.
