  1. The virus can both cause stroke directly as well as infect the brain and cause swelling and brain cell death. He should definitely see a doctor ASAP. The virus causes endothelial cell infection in the blood vessels that leads to micro thrombosis all over the body and organ damage from blood clotting including in the brain i.e. strokes. We've seen a lot of this. It also infects platelets in the blood and monocytes like macrophages that can cross the blood brain barrier directly and infect the brain and cause damage directly. This has been confirmed in brain scans and pathology studies. And it h
  2. Thanks for tolerating my lack of self control. I've just been dealing with this since January and having several relatives infected I can say you don't want to get this thing if you are over 50 years of age. Luckily most are slowly recovering. One in her 50's is still having kidney issues. Another who is a musician (guitarist) has lost some motor control of one hand. Hopefully they will recover further but we really don't know for sure.
  3. My apologies to Specie. I'll go cool off. There is a lot of bad information out there. Some of it comes from social media i.e. 5G causes the infection or the virus doesn't exist. Some of it unfortunately comes from our government i.e. don't wear a mask earlier this year. So I understand the lack of trust.
  4. Sorry! Deleted! The governor of Texas just had to suspend surgeries in several Texas counties because the hospitals are already full.
  5. 2 hours ago, specie said: Daily deaths have been tracking the decline in number of new cases per day averaged over 7 days nearly *exactly* due to the lockdown with the proper lag of about a month. The surge we see now won't appear in deaths for several weeks because it is just starting. Confirmed cases are confirmed using rtPCR which is a RNA test and the RNA signature is unique to this specific coronavirus and can not be mistaken for any other virus period. There have been a few issues with data collected on a national level from a very few states
  6. Just picked up two Honda EU2200i (one of them companion) so I can keep the freezer stocked even during a power outage and run my extra gear. They have $100 off right now at Home Depot.

  9. Terrain theory - that ancient theory has captivated the minds of the younger generations. They think germ theory is a conspiracy by big pharma and viruses have never been isolated. They go round and round about Koch's postulates. When these folks are set lose they are going to be very busy infecting everyone around them.
  10. Often bad news will come out when they file with the FDA and after a glowing press release. This isn't uncommon.
  11. The insider dealing and revolving doors is so conflicted in this industry it is beyond belief. However, it pales in comparison to the secret committees at the National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurty (NSABB) that vote on Enhanced Potential Pandemic Pathogen (PPP) and Gain-of-Function (GOF) research and fund labs like the Wuhan lab from smoke field back rooms knowing full well the public if they new about this research would never allow it. Many of these projects in in breach of HHS P3HO policy. And if you even mention what I just said you will get banned from major journals like Nature b
  12. Nature now has a formal paper (link to PDF) regarding the use of monoclonal antibodies for SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19. This is hopeful: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-020-2349-y https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-020-2349-y_reference.pdf

  14. This market is high as a kite. Great call Doc!
  15. Regarding Moderna's vaccine: https://investors.modernatx.com/news-releases/news-release-details/moderna-announces-positive-interim-phase-1-data-its-mrna-vaccine "All participants ages 18-55 (n=15 per cohort) across all three dose levels seroconverted by day 15 after a single dose" All we have so far is a press release. I wouldn’t put much weight on that. We’ll need to wait for their results to get published. Then review it. An RNA vaccine like this has never been approved for human use but it has been successfully used with animals. But the bar is much lower
  16. RtPCR tests using nasal swabs have a high false negative rate. So it is not inconceivable they could have had two negative tests when they were still infected. They could use BALF from the lung but that isn't very pleasant. It could also be the last text picked up dead virus being cleared out.
  17. Association of Inpatient Use of Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitors and Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers with Mortality Among Patients With Hypertension Hospitalized With COVID-19. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/32302265 Retrospective, multicenter study of 1128 adult pts with HTN diagnosed with COVID19: Taking ACEI/ARB: 188 Not Taking ACEI/ARB: 940 Unadjusted 28d Mortality: No ACEI/ARB: 9.8% ACEI/ARB: 3.7% P = 0.01 ACEI/ARB also associated with decreased mortality compared to other antihypertensive drugs (aHR 0.30; 95% CI 0.12 to 0.70; p = 0.01 Bottom Line: Inpt use of
  18. Monoclonal antibody therapeutics has been around for 30 years. In fact everyone of us who was breast fed received antibodies from our mother's milk which protected us from pathogens until we developed our own functioning adaptive immune system. Giving plasma from recovered patients to infected patients has already be proven effective. It works because it transfers IgG from a recovered patient to a sick patient which binds the virus and leads to its removal. The problem there is plasma donations are few and you may not get enough of the type of antibody that will work best i.e. that has a high
  19. Virus stuff: "We want to emphasize there is a cure. There is a solution that works 100 percent," "If we have the neutralizing antibody in your body, you don't need the social distancing. You can open up a society without fear." Dr. Henry Ji, of Sorrento Therapeutics https://www.foxnews.com/science/covid-cure-california-biopharmaceutical-coronavirus-antibody-breakthrough
